just so it's clear: this is the exact core function of genAI

Fascist government and climate deniers love it because it can produce the aesthetics of knowledge without any actual tendency towards truth. It is automated denialism.

Shame on every climate scientist promoting its use (there are lots)
Bob and I were among the hundreds of researchers that were supposed to conduct the 6th U.S. National Climate Assessment. Now it looks like they're gonna produce it with a few people and Grok? Communities need rigorous and accurate information about climate change. This will put communities at risk.

Please encourage your moots and favourite artists to enable the mandatory alt text requirement setting where possible!

A lot of people, myself included, won't share others' posts when it isn't present.

For those that struggle there are the hashtags #alt4me and #alt4you that can help 😊💚

“Content” is a corpo-brain term, makes me cringe when I hear it in the wild.

You don’t make “content”, you make ART! You write STORIES. Its your WORK (and often play too)!

“Content” is the noise you flick through when trying to find a SHOW you like, don’t cheapen your work comparing it to SLOP. 😤
"Content" is a blatantly misleading term to use for fanworks. Fanworks are the antithesis of content; content is produced for individual gain and consuming, whereas fanworks are created out of inspiration and the communal experience.
start using "fanworks" again instead of "content" let's go people

Have any of you used GIMP on both Windows and Linux? I've seen a lot of complaints about GIMP as the only real Linux image editing option, but I don't know whether that's just because these people would hate GIMP on any OS, or whether the user experience is significantly worse in Linux.

"This is Berwick – we protect the border between County Montrose and County Snowdon." Better than fantasy authors usually manage, but still leaving out quite a bit of geography there.

We didn't survive and thrive as a species because we had warriors or hunters - pretty much every omnivore can manage that.

We did so because we developed Grandmothers, and domesticated Dogs.

Community is what defines us as a species, and every "self-reliant" libertarian shitweasel be damned.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

We need Universal Basic Capital. Everyone gets their choice of a hectare of land or a little shop in their hometown to go with their UBI, and no restrictions on what they can do with it.

We could replace the entire industry with quite a small shell script.
I have a theory that one big reason llms get so much hype is that due to financialization the people in charge of tech companies are finance grifters who have never once, ever, used sed or awk or grep and would be totally unable to describe how they work.

I needed a handy way to carry teabags around, so I designed this little pocketbook. It's a no-sew structure, a drum leaf binding with integral pockets and W-folds to allow for volume. It's now had its test drive, so I can make prettier versions and publish a tutorial soon.

"Everyone, please tell me I'm a creative genius and a rockstar manager?" [Yes] / [Maybe Later]
This is just a shitpost, but there's something to the idea that

Almost every design choice and optimization for large language model-based "AI" comes from the designers' terror of ever hearing the words "you're wrong" or even just "no."
