Reminder to self: today I have post-codeine brainhaar in addition to normal brainfog. It's OK to only get a bit done. If I can get a bit done in seven different directions (which is frankly inevitable) that's better than beating my head against a single essay question for ages.

Today is the OFFICIAL publication day for TEXTILE SHAKESPEARE! Please indulge me: I want to say a little (perhaps rather a lot) about it and share my acknowledgements - and a discount code! Appropriately,🧵1/10

The sewing box has resurfaced too! Now the only excuse I have for not sewing these sections is my university assignment.
One nice surprise from all the packing and unpacking I've had to do recently - the lovely needle book @evenicholls.bsky.social made me has resurfaced! As for the thing I still can't find? The box with all the thread in. I have miles of sashiko thread, but no embroidery or bookbinding thread at all.

Clearly the next Bond film should have all the human spies being made redundant and being replaced with BritGPT version 007 agents.

I have been struck with a sudden yearning to visit a ginkgo tree. But I have no idea where to find one, even if there is one I can sustainably visit. Most annoying.

Performative not-readers are just weird. I mean, I know intellectually that not everyone has a book or an e-reader in their pocket at all times, but they don't have to flaunt it.
People are being accused of "reading performatively", that is reading in public as a way of showing off or 'looking cool'?

That sounds like an accusation made by people who don't read.

The white poppy has been worn for over 90 years, as a symbol of remembrance & peace.

By wearing a white poppy, we remember all victims of war, both civilian & military. We remember those who are so often overlooked, buried under the rubble, suffering from starvation or displaced from their homes.

I went for a five-minute walk around the town centre, and saw nine different groups of red poppy pushers. And a 250% increase in Union Jacks over last year. Fortunately a "got one, thanks" while prominently wearing a white poppy caused no unpleasantness.

i know the app developers are rubbing their greedy little hands thinking “THIS time she’ll buy coins to keep playing”

I wear a white poppy for ALL the victims of war. Everyone who fought in WW1, Allied and Axis soldiers in WW2, combatants and civilian victims in the Troubles, for Gaza and Sudan and Congo. No matter what side they fought on, out who harmed them. For peace.
