This is spot on. Trump and republicans are willing to name the enemy, but it’s a lie. Democrats don’t have the courage to tell the truth about who the enemy actually is.
It's not the immigrants who took your job, your home, or your healthcare—it was the corporations. Maybe it's time for Democrats to start naming it.

No notes for that sign.
Demonstrators as far as the eye can see. Current status of the march in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota for Ice Out of Minnesota. They are turning onto 3rd Street from 5th Avenue.

Too often today when someone on the left says “for now we really need to focus on X” other people on the left reply with “OMG why are you so toxic about Y!!”
i think this MLK day the thing to focus on is the strategic focus and tactical brilliance of the civil rights movement and the way it was laser focused on a set of achievable goals

I think trumpism, in absolute terms, is quite weak but has also been largely immune to certain factors that many people assumed would constrain authoritarianism. The key is not to assume trumpism is all-powerful, but to be specific and realistic about the ways in which it is actually vulnerable.

I didn't write this for people in the Twin Cities. I wrote this to everyone else, my feeble attempt to try to be witness to the occupation of Minnesota and the chaos of every single day right now. open.substack.com/pub/wburdine...

Not even once. Why rely on a plagiarized, probably inaccurate and incomplete summary of a bunch of different people's ideas, when you can go to a primary source?

@democracynow.org You played a clip of the incident in MN in which a door dash driver ran into a home. The way you edited it was misleading— the homeowners did NOT hand the dasher over, they kept asking for a warrant and ICE eventually left.

Fantastic news. I was worried about this. You should watch Season 1 if you haven't already.
The Lowdown is the best damn show not enough people are watching. I can exclusively report that FX has ordered a second season of the delightful Ethan Hawke comic mystery series: www.whatsalanwatching.com/the-lowdown-...

Does anyone else bristle at this framing? WSJ says blue books are “torturing” students with hand cramps, and “nobody likes them.”

Listen, students have been outsourcing everything to AI and cheating their way through college. Blue books should be celebrated as a return to authentic human learning.
They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.
Cheating with ChatGPT has become a huge problem for colleges. The solution is painfully old-school.

Force Awakens came out 10 years ago today.

Since then Star Wars has both delivered something better than my wildest dreams and also ended up in a place worse than I imagined it could.

Anyone else surprised to learn that Maggie Smith was only 58 in SISTER ACT (1992)?

I kind of think this is true, and it is going to bring about some VERY strange bedfellows that will be an interesting experiment for the left and liberals.
I can’t quite put it into words, but Trump praising Mamdani on the same day that MTG resigns in opposition to “big Tech, big Pharma, the war complex and big donors” feels like a harbinger of realignment.

There is a political earthquake trembling beneath the surface waiting to break through.

Trump proposes 50-year mortgages. Tay Zonday predicted all of this:

So when they talk about the housing crisis
They never say we need to lower housing prices
We need better devices to afford high prices
Meaning higher debt/lower interest cuz you're underpaid to begin with
