Hello, I exist!

(Note that this does not create in you a sense of obligation)
Wednesdays are always my bad days, but I have nine meetings on my calendar tomorrow. They span from 9:30am through 5:00pm. The calendar becomes funnier the longer that I stare at it.

I performed in a full length concert today, for the first time in nine years. It turns out, I had a lot of thinks and a lot of feels about this, particularly around the role that performance plays in activism and social change. So I wrote an essay about it.

Some aspirational thoughts on the relationship between social change and performance, at least for yours truly.

Habeas cases filed by immigrants claiming their detention is illegal have taken off to levels we have never seen before. Just look at that chart.

Really interesting and informative thread about what is driving the Discord changes
While this absolutely sucks, we are going to see a lot more places implementing universal global age verification over this next year, because the number of states and countries legally requiring it has gotten to the point no one can keep up anymore.
Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month

I know we're all mad about ICE/DHS but we also need to be mad about RFK Jr.

He's killing -- and is setting the stage to kill -- waaaaay more people than DHS does, it's just that it happens quietly and in people's homes. Vaccine recommendations matter. Lying under oath matters.

IMPEACH RFK JR
Three members of Congress and the governor of Hawai'i, a medical doctor who responded to the measles outbreak in Samoa, are calling for RFK Jr's resignation. Emails now reveal he lied under oath about his antivax role in those 83 deaths.

This is 18-mo-old Amalia waving to me when she was detained.

She was hospitalized with a respiratory infection while at ICE’s Dilley facility for immigrant families.

She’s one of dozens of detainees who I spoke to via video and phone calls, letters and an in-person visit. 🧵1/

When he gave the Grammy to that young boy who made everyone think of Liam…even if that wasn’t actually Liam, it was just the perfect way of cutting through all the bullshit.

Every kid impacted by this administration’s cruelty is another Liam.

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century.

He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. He’s referenced 38,000 times.

can't help but think there is probably a corrosive effect of having sex trafficker-elite emails unveiled for months on end as one of the biggest cultural/news stories of the last year— unearthing an inexcusable moral rot in the upper echelons of power—but without any real accountability/justice

I think often of the women in the Louis CK story—how they all left comedy and never went back, but he’s still going. It’s everywhere and it’s such a loss for them and for us—for things they’ll never make that we’ll never see.
the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

You want a hot take? Here’s a hot take. Making this stuff an issue of trust or political divides is… individualizing public health. It’s an abdication of the actual tools we had for living in a society: legal standards for business and food safety. It’s okay to regulate stuff, folks
This is bonkers. MAHA 'farmers' with ecoli tainted raw milk admit they really don't know how to make the stuff after all.

"Producing raw milk takes careful planning from a facility and infrastructure standpoint. Unfortunately, we learned this after the fact."
