DHS hasn’t paid 3rd part medical care providers since October. There is no medical care in the concentration camps.

My husband didn't know, so I'll repeat it here: Border Czar isn't a real job. Tom Homan has a fake job with a fake title. It also means that he wasn't confirmed by anyone in Congress. (Trump tried to confirm Homan in 1.0 but he failed bc Homan was too corrupt even pre-cava bag.)

Lifting this out of my nerdy city council thread.

The Somerville City Council has once again voted to accept state funds to pay overtime to cops to harass cyclists under the fig leaf of "education."

Shame.
Next up is the committee report from the finance committee.

It includes the truly odious annual $65k: "from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to the Police Department for the Municipal Road Safety Program."

This is the money the cops get to harass cyclists.

They ran an illegal detention facility at Broadview like this. There was not enough food for meals, no showers, bathroom access denied, medications denied, people sleeping in shifts on the floor, lawyers denied. I expect the same in Baltimore. They will lie about it & not stop without a lawsuit.
Leaked video appears to show ICE holding large number of people in Baltimore at Hopkins Plaza (not ICE detention facility) where the local ICE office and immigration court is located. ICE has been criticized for the treatment of immigrants it holds at this location.

15 years ago I borrowed a bulletproof vest from a reporter so I could report from a war zone. I held onto it after I returned.

Last week the reporter finally asked for it back because he is headed to Minneapolis.

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

Ok, heard.
Worth noting that one reason you’re benefitting so fully from the Star-Tribune’s timely, extensive coverage of unfolding events is that it’s a metro newspaper that hasn’t been systematically starved to further enrich shareholders and executives.

I saw a civilian admonishing a journalist about how they should “not turn away” from a snuff film (that others had detailed, so you don’t have to watch it) and man … we should not lecture the folks who are ceaselessly reporting on the horrors of the day, amid so many horrors.

This is pure violent escalation from ICE from step 1: They attack three observers who're directing traffic--in effect, making ICE's job *easier.* Each step victim tries to de-escalate, each step they immediately escalate. They murder him for *not* fighting. They murder him because they can.

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.
