organizing gets the goods
SFUSD students learned more about solidarity, power, and love this week from UESF and all who supported them than they could possibly have learned in school for the week.

Thank you educators for showing the way 🙏

the phrase "economic precarity" is a quaint euphemism for never, ever feeling safe.

even the most gonzo libertarian believes in the nightwatchman-state. the state is supposed to protect people from violent actors. an unvaccinated person is doing violence against everyone around them.
I feel this way about pretty much all vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. You shouldn't be allowed to dump cyanide into municipal drinking water and you shouldn't be allowed to recreationally spread viruses around shared public spaces.
My most authoritarian opinion is that the MMR vaccine should be mandatory, with only medical (not religious or floofy) exemptions allowed. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

in the perfect star trek equal post-scarcity society there are private, quiet, comfortable, and easily accessible public spaces for praying, nursing, crying, resting

it just sucks to have to cry/nurse/both simultaneously in a public bathroom man!

Even though I'm alergic to milk I am glad that oat milk is taking an L because it is my least favourite alternative milk and it's the most overpriced of an already absurdly overpriced market

My ancestors did not flee Scotland so their descendants could pay $5.49 for 2L of emulsified gruel

BONDI: And with this antisemitic culture right now, she voted against a resolution--

BALINT: You want to go there! Really? Talking about antisemitism to a woman who lost her grandfather in the Holocaust! *storms off*

I heard someone say "remember when we used to talk about kids as the future and we replaced that with robots and AI as the future while never talking about kids' potential" and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.
can you imagine if we were historically obsessed with building statues that had realistic human hair and fingernails that grow in real time and needed to be maintained? this is what the vulgar imagination of AI is, basically, but it would have at least resulted in way more interesting art
one of the weird things about humanity is that we can in fact replicate ourselves in one extremely important and obvious fashion and yet for some reason we are enthralled by the idea of making a bunch of plastic and minerals into our doubles when they do not have to be and are frankly unlikely to be

half-baked thoughts:

the US uses an adversarial system in criminal law. you know, the one with two sides—defence and prosecution—and they both present their version of the facts, and the truth is supposed to emerge from the conflicting information (somehow).

It’s ridiculously tough to find success within the video games industry, let alone sustainability.

But maybe, just maybe, if you build a worker-centric co-op, you’ll have healthier, more equitable options.

This program is a great starting point!
Co-op curious? Apply for our NEW Cooperative Foundations program now! You and your collaborators will get 8 weeks of pre-formation education alongside alumni and other indie studios in a cozy cohort. Open to new and established studios and comes with a $5k grant.

Skittles are CURRENCY
Nermal was CUTER than GARFIELD
Plants are NOT ALIVE
Vests should be worn BACKWARDS
Lakes are IMAGINARY
Jumping is BAD
Shoes are for HANDS
Megyn Kelly just shouting “FOOTBALL IS OURS” at Piers Morgan about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show is the perfect example of this moment in time. Put it in a time capsule and send it out into space.
