My resolution this year is to get better at home maintenance, repair, and decorating. The spaces we occupy are a part of ourselves. They can heal; they can harm. I want to be better at respecting my home and not treating them all as a pied-á-terre even though I live in it full-time.

i don't think software engineers can call themselves that unless they, like real engineers, have a little imprimatur on their code that says "if this code kills someone I will go to jail"
I remember taking the mandatory engineering ethics class in college where we learned about how your job comes with serious responsibility; how software that handles medicine delivery can kill people if there are bugs or how the Hyatt Regency walkway collapse happened.
