I run @VarianceFilms.com where we put good movies in good theaters for good people.

Here to help.
I cannot stress enough how, if you like fantasy, epics, action, good movies in general, Indian cinema, and/or RRR, you REALLY need to catch BAAHUBALI: THE EPIC on the big screen this week.

Don't worry a bit about the run time, we hard-coded a ten minute intermission into the DCP and the film ZIPS.
At the intermission for BAAHUBALI: THE EPIC and my short review so far is this shit rocks.

The 4K restoration of LINDA LINDA LINDA will play in these locations starting today! 🎸✨

S.S Rajamouli's BAAHUBALI: THE EPIC

This isn't a re-release, this is a re-imagining from S.S. Rajamouli himself.

Oct 31, 2025. Only in theaters. Everywhere. And we do mean everywhere.

We're here to put the 'grand' in grand release.

We're ready... are you?

This is so fantastic!

@thegrandcinema.bsky.social is the theater I mention in the opening of my @metroweekly.bsky.social cover story about first seeing Brokeback Mountain two decades ago.

I’m so happy to see an independent cinema like the Grand flourishing. There’s no better place to see a movie.

🎬️ NEW MASKING MOTORS 🎬️

Our new motorized masking system literally reshapes our screen for every film, making each image sharper, more immersive, and truer to the filmmaker’s vision.

Catch it in action at our upcoming screenings of PINK NARCISSUS (July 1-3) and THE RED SHOES (July 2-4)

The one venue I'll sort of miss at Sundance is the Holiday, a creaky four-plex with generally good vibes in the tent and decent picture and sound, only dinged because each theater had about 24 seats.
Among other things, I will tell you the one thing absolutely no one will miss in Park City: The Library Theater. A fascinating venue with exactly 0 (zero) good seats. Truly one of a kind.

Hi all, hate to do a GoFundMe so close to taxes, but while Marya and I were out of town our cat Miss Fanny was rushed to the emergency room.

She was saved but we had to take on a lot of debt to do it, and we’d appreciate whatever help you can provide.
