Is New York Times, like, one of the most corrupt publications out there now? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?
“would you like photos of donald and girls in bikinis in my kitchen?” -Jeffrey Epstein

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

We aren’t making enough of a deal out ot Apple canceling Matthew Heineman’s THE SAVANT, starring Jessica Chastain. They deemed a story about those bravely fighting extremism insensitive/inappropriate after Kirk’s killing & we all should be a bit more alarmed & offended by this. >>

Fellow subway rider Canela, a very cute 10-month-old mutt. Obviously a super good girl. 10/10, love her.

And just like that, New York City weather went from melting inside a light trench coat to….SNOW, in three days. What a town!

“You can only pick 1 of these 4 authors.”
“5 of these movies must go, 1 can stay.”
“This director, or that director?”

Nope, I’m not giving up anything I love for your stupid social media games. I’m keeping ‘em all, all of them, times are tough as it is.

DK why I still bother to explain reasonable things to people who clearly have no use for ideas or logic. I’m not inviting you to pile on anybody—just trust me that the replies under are as bad as you’d imagine, of the “Oh I never read “critics”” variety. (Critics of course in quotation marks.)

Beginning to think, based on recent interviews I read/convos I had, we’re putting too much pressure on actors to use intimacy coordinators. I get why they exist & I’m glad that they do. But obligating actors is wrong & entitled if they find it counterproductive to their process.

Sick of FedEx, UPS, etc. pretending like they don’t know how to deliver a package to a city address. They either dump it outside for it to get stolen, or mark you as “nobody’s home” before bothering to buzz/ring your apartment. They act like they’ve never seen a door bell before.

Joseph H. Lewis’ essential noir GUN CRAZY (1950) is on MOVIES! TV Network tonight at 10:30pm ET (and 3 other times this month).

Don’t sleep on MOVIES. It’s got lots of noir and it's available free, over the air in 85% of the US (and also on live TV streamers like Frndly TV).

Watching Fritz Lang’s “The Blue Gardenia” for the first time. The dude who broke up with Anne Baxter in a letter, saying he fell in love with someone else, clearly hasn’t seen “All About Eve” and does not know what Ms. Harrington is capable of.

WOW. Allow me to explain how ageism (at the intersection pf sexism) actually works most of the time as a woman nearing 50, whose MBA/impeccable pre-journalism résumé is worth nothing (“it was a while ago”), or whose journalism pay expectations are too high (“young people will do it for free”).

It has come to my attention that Marjorie Taylor Greene has lately been saying one not-entirely-crazy thing after another. And I would caution everyone (my dropped jaw included) to take every semi-sane thing that she’s saying WITH A MASSIVE GRAIN OF SALT.

The way Zohran Mamdani looked at his wife last night and called her “hayati…” The Turkish word for the same sentiment is “canım,” a word my husband & I frequently exchange in our home. It made my heart soar…. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Think there is a difference between having civic pride & insisting that NY is the greatest city in the world. The latter is unearned arrogance when we still have so many problems. But Mamdani’s election makes me believe we CAN be ONE of the greatest in the world.

Signed, a proud NYer who ♥️s NY.

This is a stunning political realignment--Mamdani lost Jews, Catholics, and Protestants but won by sweeping "Other" and "None."

As a Jewish voter in the 33% I hope my neighbors (literally) in the 63%, who were flooded with dishonest mailers, social media, and texts, will now keep an open mind.

Mamdani’s speech saluted “Yemeni bodega owners, Mexican abuelas, Senegalese drivers, Uzbek nurses, Trinidadian line cooks, Ethiopian aunties.” He embraced competence & compassion, spoke against antisemitism & Islamophobia.

How was he “divisive”? Take your bigoted bs elsewhere.

I think Dick Cheney’s death today highlighted this divide.

The Democrats who still say shit like “reach across the aisle” and praise evil people are playing to a political audience that no longer exists.

Mamdani wasn’t cruel to Cuomo in a Trumpism style, but he didn’t concede anything either.
I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

Has the “women don’t get Goodfellas” dude left New York City yet? That’s what I would like to know. 🤭🤣
