trump is right that crime isn’t showing up in the dc crime statistics…..because all of the crimes being committed by administration since January will be a huge statistical weight on the overall numbers

Just got back from my closest brush with American patriotism of the year (the county fair) and man two things stand out
- the GWoT warped our sense of patriotism so it’s indistinguishable from jingoism

Because the message we want Dem electeds to internalize is, “Hey, if a total asshole like Newsom can get all this praise for fighting Trump, just thing what it could do for me.”
Why does everyone praising Newsom feel the need to add that that they don't especially like him? There's a freaking rapist in the WH and fascism is taking root. We need someone with cajones, smarts, and the willingness to harness power. It's not a popularity contest, people.

1 source of the urban crime illusion that I guess I haven't thought about or fully articulated to myself: Greater density means any given crime a) is witnessed by more people & b) happens within a block of two of more people, so the greater proportion of people who have *seen* or *been near* a crime

Seeing a lot of this sorta thing. When I pointed out the noticeable decline in violent crime in Baltimore, someone yelled at me that I was an idiot to say that Baltimore had no crime, which was not something I had said.
it is incredible to see the extent to which the Sensible Centrists are simply incapable of grasping the very simple and obvious fact that the president's concern with crime is a pretext, and that to deny claims of a sudden epidemic in crime is not to say that crime is nonexistent.
