THIS.
all i’m saying is this is a really weird time in history to be a person who’s never been impressed by wealth or found rich people aspirational. watching people bootlicking bad men just because they’re rich gives me so much second hand embarrassment istg it makes no sense to me

If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is.

Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

Today, Himself and I (with help from next door neighbour, local corner shop ladies and vets) rescued a puppy who'd staged an escape attempt, before realizing that the world was big and scary.

She was an absolute sweetheart. I will never not be there for our doggo friends.

My Old Goth heart is happy this evening 🥰🖤🩸

'The Brides' is amazing - proper review coming soon once the book hangover recedes. The movie is gorgeous and absolutely helping.

Approaching 40 years of vampire appreciation. It's not just a phase 😎

GNoH NEEDS YOU.

Last year, certainly the first half was a washout for me, but after getting proper psychiatric help, I am back with a reviewing vengeance.

And GNoH needs more reviewers. If you'd like to volunteer your services, please drop me an email (jimmcleod(at)gnofhorror.com)

You know, with the success of Frankenstein and Nosferatu, there's not a single reason Inheriting Her Ghosts and Bottling His Ghosts should not receive adaptations. Rich gothic tales that center on strong female leads, terrifying ghosts, and two of the best boys in literature. Get on it, filmmakers!

I hear that some publishers are pulling back on LGBTQIA+ books because of 'controversy' and 🍊😡

I'll be reviewing even more of them moving forward, then. ARC diary is very open *determined face* 🌈

Yep, this.
I have never used AI in my research.

Even before any ethical or ideological concerns, the way the technology works means you cannot be sure what it says is correct, so anything you get from it needs to fact-checked anyway. So what's the fucking point?

Been thinking about my love of fantasy, and 1984 feels like a pivotal year: Fighting Fantasy, Robin of Sherwood, and (genuinely) an advert for Shell Grip where Tim Healy is chased through the woods by Herne the Hunter. I spent every ad break hoping to see it.
