The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex

WHAT BLADERUNNER WOULD'VE DRIVEN

Y'know, Bladerunner! The title character from Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic Bladerunner!

Oh that wacky Bladerunner, always up to his shenanigans! What wacky predicaments WILL Bladerunner and his sidekicks, the Bladerunner Kids, get into next?

"This use of GenAI is fine because VAs signed contracts to relinquish their rights".

Well yeah, have you seen what happens to those who don't want to sign off on this? Can you really call that consent when the alternative is losing (or never getting) a job?

Look, I get some people want to quibble over the fact that the models that feed Embark's TTS were supposedly fed by consenting voice actors, but I think using that to negate criticism misses the real point.

Rewatching @drubie.bsky.social 's Final Fantasy retrospective series as a sorta comfort thing. Don't know if they were supposed to be "cozy", but it's working :D They're great, and you should check them out

Anyway, if anyone wants me I'll be watching the FFV retrospective for the next few hours

It's called "bluffing," and it's a lost art after social media has programmed people to broadcast their every thought.
Here’s an important note when you call up key senators to yell at them.

This is really important:

YOU
CAN
LIE

You can call their office and tell them you’ll never give another dollar or another vote to a Democrat for what they did & they better fix their shit right now.

It’s OK if that’s a lie.

This thread. Gamers are arguing that dinging a game review for Ai use is wrong.

100% Disagree. Its the same as going to a restaurant that advertises its "fresh local organic food, made to order" and then finding out its just fried frozen shit from Costco.

Quality and care matters.
For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

ATTENTION TO ALL MY PRESS AND STREAMING FRIENDS: As we lead in to the release of Demonschool, now is the time to get me on your podcast to talk about things, do interviews, etc. I can talk about things other than my game, but also hopefully my game. Hit me up if you want conversations like the below
Why delay a game that’s nothing like Silksong to avoid its surprise release? Because for indies, there’s just too much riding on each individual launch to chance it. Demonschool creative director @brandon.insertcredit.com explains:

Yeah, I make sure I put distance between my public socials and my partner for similar reasons.
Not to add to the “is having a boyfriend embarrassing” discourse, but there are other reasons for women keeping their male partners off their feeds. Years ago, I made the mistake of sharing a poem I wrote for my fiancé and tagging him. The result was people harassing him, an introverted reserved guy

This is a must see.The assassination of Jamal Khashoggi has been so skipped by the general reporting of the EA buyout (I don't recall any media other than Eurogamer.es talking about it, but might be wrong) that I almost gaslighted myself into thinking the man behind it was "another saudi prince".
Here’s my breakdown of EA’s pending sale… to Saudi Arabia… and why this is much, much bigger than video games. I’m late to this from a ‘news’ perspective obviously, but it’s because I worked on this video for about a month.

Gross.
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!

I don't pretend to like or understand the kids' lingo these days, but we have to acknowledge that we were just as dumb with our lingo when we were their age and it was impenetrable to people older than us, too.

Let the kids have their fun.
Phrases like skibidi, 67, fanum tax, etc aren’t inherently more bad, dumb, or meaningless than the memes you grew up with; you’re just not 14 any more
