Stephen Miller is nuts.
Stephen Miller, advisor to Trump, stated that Greenland "should be part of the US," questioning Denmark's territorial claim. He dismissed the idea of military action, saying no one would fight the U.S. over Greenland. Miller framed the issue as one of NATO security and Arctic control.

Happy new year! My all sky camera imaged the sky every 15 seconds and this picture shows what happened in the sky in 2025. It shows the length of the night and day with the hourglass shape, the monthly lunar cycle with the diagonal bands, the elevation of the Sun at local noon, and lots of clouds.

“If a woman dares to show herself in public in any way, then she can and will be sexually harassed with the aid of genAI-driven tools that can easily turn her face into highly realistic pornography” is an absolute red-alarm human rights disaster
The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

97.6% of Norway's car sales were all-electric in Dec., and 95.9% for the full year. Also, there are now more EVs on Norway's roads than diesel

You will wear these war crimes like skin, Guyliner boy.
The president offered multiple off ramps, but was very clear throughout this process: the drug trafficking must stop, and the stolen oil must be returned to the United States. Maduro is the newest person to find out that President Trump means what he says.

It’s hard to believe that the 125-year-old Nobel committee had a better grasp of the long-term prospects of Trump-led Peace around the world than Gianni Infantino with his very short history of metaphorical fellation of the corrupt by golden-bauble “peace” award.

On the plus side, I’m a lot less worried about Farage as PM. On the minus side, I’m a lot more worried about Threads turning into a documentary.

At least Trump is never getting the Nobel Peace Prize now.

A picture is worth 1000 words...

This appeared on the BBC News today, showing the increase in solar electric generation in the UK.

Not sure who produced it, but genuinely think this is a genius piece of scientific communication - the construct and choice of colour scale is near-perfect.

Chapeau!

I was sceptical before, given the complete lack of evidence and the absurdly convenient timing, but I'm fully on board now that the Russian government has drawn some lines on a map.
The Russian Defense Ministry showed a map of the flight path of Ukrainian drones that attempted to attack Putin's residence.

One of my favourite old runs. The monument at the top is a tribute to Wellington. Possibly the only Englishman ever celebrated in that part of Wales. The run loop back to town includes what everyone refers to as “horse shit alley”.

The AI job revolution: couple of things about that: first, we are the most technologically advance society yet, by definition, the largest human population yet, and unemployment outside wartime is historically low. So “tech steals jobs” doesn’t seem to be happening. /1

Tried to walk past a person, but they stepped in the same direction as me, then did it twice me. We both said “sorry” at the same time, chuckled an then I said “after you” and they got out of the way. Happens once or twice a year. Never know who they are.
Please quote this with stories of your minor interactions with non-celebrities, e.g. “I once accidentally bumped into a man in the Wellingborough branch of Holland & Barrett”
