My oped in @thestar.com today:

Do we want a Canada where tech billionaires sell out their country for a tax break, or one where our government fights back against the oligarchy with creative ideas to tax extreme wealth?

www.thestar.com/business/opi...
Trump’s love of ‘broligarchs’ is seeping into Canada. Do our leaders have the courage to take on the ultra-rich?
Delay in capital gains tax reform is a capitulation to the wealthy, writes Claire Trottier. Do we really want to live in a country where the monied get preferential treatment

they’re not gonna leave, they’ll whine and bitch and moan and eventually this will raise more money than expected because nowhere they go is actually like the place they’re leaving
Billionaires are considering cutting or reducing their ties to California by the end of the year because of a proposed ballot measure that could tax the state’s wealthiest residents.
A Wealth Tax Floated in California Has Billionaires Thinking of Leaving
It’s uncertain whether the proposal will reach the statewide ballot in November, but some billionaires like Peter Thiel and Larry Page may be unwilling to take the risk.

So after finishing Heated Rivalry last night it’s clear we need a full resurgence of actually soft romantic films and tv shows with people who can actually act. The whole cast was great but Connor and Hudson just did an excellent job.

The actor Michael Sheen used all his money to start a fake debt collecting business, buy 900 people in Wales's debt, and excused it. If Musk bought ALL $194 billion in medical debt in the U.S. and excused it in the same way, he'd still be the world's riches man by hundreds of billions of dollars.

It is a betrayal, for which future generations will pay.

NEW: It’s not just readers that suffer due to Harlequin’s mismanagement of the' Heated Rivalry' books. Reid misses out on royalties, & booksellers miss out on commissions—which is especially painful during the holiday season when many small businesses make the bulk of their money.
was ‘heated rivalry’ failed by its publisher?
everyone's devouring the new TV series, so why can't people buy a copy of the book the show is based on?
