My most recent cousin facing execution had a 10 minute “trial” and three of her attorneys have been thrown in prison.
I can’t even call to get updates — I have to communicate through an app with her fam.
She’s facing death penalty for being in telegram group.
Not even saying anything in it.

The US is more oppressive than the IR by every metric. Largest prison population, largest state surveillance apparatus, most murderous and aggressive military, etc. Throw in a criminally malapportioned legislature and unaccountable judiciary and even Khameini doesn't cover the gap.
