Father, veteran, author. All views my own, but they should be yours as well. Author of THE SHIP AND THE STORM: POEMS.

My debut poetry collection, alongside the wonderful @quotidianwriter.bsky.social releases in September!

THE SHIP AND THE STORM is a conversation in poetry, as we delve into subjects ranging from loss and memory to war and nature, and I really hope you'll give it a read.
The depths of loathing I have for Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfield cannot be expressed in words I will permit myself to type.
On Fox News, Jesse Watters is focusing on the sexual orientation of the ICE homicide victim.

I refuse to stay silent while Secretary Noem breaks the rule of law and terrorizes our communities. I am introducing Articles of Impeachment against her for violating the public trust, obstructing Congress, and self-dealing. Read my full statement: robinkelly.house.gov/media-center...
Rep. Kelly announces plans to impeach Secretary Kristi Noem

Nothing sums up the Trump administration more decisively than their illegal killing of a woman with the surname "Good".

He doesn't believe the President would need Congressional approval to break US law (treaties are laws!) to seize territory by force from an allied power?

What the actual fuck does Mike Johnson think his role is as a Congressman?
Speaker Mike Johnson tells PBS that he does not believe Trump would need congressional approval to use military force in Greenland. (But does not believe Trump will do so.)

Trump's Truth/Tweet about the murder in Minneapolis is completely unhinged. It is vile. It is despicable. It is going to inflame the tensions even more.

Absolute amateur hour from start to finish. Complete and utter indisciplined buffoonery by ICE or CBP or whatever federal agency this is--and the results of such incompetence and indiscipline are as terrible as they are predictable.
This is another angle of CBP murdering a woman in cold blood.

In the American heartland, a bunch of masked agents of the state just killed an unarmed person exercising their first amendment rights in broad daylight.

This is pretty much the textbook example of the tyranny I was always taught to fear growing up (as a conservative, no less).

"Dominant predator force..."

I'm reminded of a phrase I heard a lot in my conservative youth: "America is great because America is good; when she ceases to be good, she shall cease to be great."

The common attribution to de Tocqueville is wrong, but the sentiment is true.

How far we've fallen.
Ogles: "It's important that we have a stake in Greenland, that they are quite frankly a protectorate of the US. They've been in relationship with Denmark - that needs to end. We've spilled more blood protecting Greenland than the Danes... we are the dominant predator force in the Western Hemisphere"

This is blatantly illegal. A president can’t go into the oil business and then decide where to spend the money. We are completely untethered from our founding document with a lawless president and a Republican Congress which has abdicated all Constitutional authority.

Do you ever look at an account on here and suspect--given everything you have in common with them--that you not only might have met them in real life but also that they might be or have been a coworker?

Voltaire would be my pick.

Well, him or Oscar Wilde.
Do you have a historical figure you most wish got to be a poster? I feel like you must have a better answer than mine, which is Churchill. The guy started autobiography when he was 19 I think. And just never stopped. True poster.

I agree on the economic hardship, but I think this idea about American tolerance for casualties is borne out of a memory of Vietnam. In pretty recent memory, though, the US population accepted casualties among the all volunteer force in Iraq and Afghanistan for 20 years.
One thing that gives me some hope is that while Miller et al may dream of American Empire they are also apparently aware that the US has zero appetite for casualties, boots on the ground, or even economic hardship.

There are limits to building Rome with SoF, cruise missiles, and tariffs.
Here. I wrote about American threats against Greenland and the fate of NATO.

What is it going to take to convince the Atlanticist crowd that they can't fix us, the US doesn't "really love them," American voters did not even pretend to promise to "quit drinking this time," and, in fact, will hit them again, no matter how clean they keep the house?
