I'm now fully expecting someone to find Mamdani's Neopets account.
we’re about to find out if loving SimCity makes you a better mayor
Mamdani was asked in 2002 by NY Mag what he wanted for Christmas and said SimCity 3000

I'm pretty sure all my Jira tasks' descriptions fit into 140 characters for the very same reason.
A decade of tweeting gave me an incredible transferable skill for slide decks: boiling down paragraphs of content to 140 characters of text.

God, I hate ping pong. Why does it have to be part of corporate culture? I hate the sound of the stupid ball, everything.
Some fighter game should be the go-to for corporate "fun" and tournaments. Like, Tekken - it's got multinational evil corpos, sleazy old CEOs, it's perfect. Fuck ping pong.

I love how the description/prompt barely matches the generated slop.
Someone is generating hundreds of those until one of them isn't pure crap, specifics be damned, and then hopes to sell it as a stock image.

Randomly: it's always struck me as peculiar that "pettish" means "subject to fits of offended ill humour; childishly bad-tempered and petulant; peevish, sulky" and "proceeding from" a pet.
What sort of pets did the Elizabethans have that fits *that* description?
Oh, wait: "Synonym: men."

I got blocked, of course. One of the downsides of Bsky's block feature - people can erase any attempt at correcting them (even when you are more polite than me here)

Picture this exact scenario, but it started happening a decade ago and now every agency you work with won't shut up about you taking more time for less pay to correct their magic machine's mistakes and you'll have just the slightest idea what your games' localizers have put up with this whole time.

Everyone please diligently check your candy this year. I cracked open a snickers bar and not only did I find a copper ingot, but it was of poor quality.
Worse still, when my man Nanni confronted my neighbor about it, he was treated with disdain.

going to be unpacking this sentence for days
I think I’ve mentioned it before but discovering Jacques Ellul’s writing on propaganda as the creation of a totalizing information space where a message is reflected in all mediums and all forms to imply unassailability, as opposed to just “biased messages” was really what clicked for me

boost your user satisfaction and growth with this one weird trick (removing the shit everyone hates that you added for no reason)

funny and accurate thread about trickery in dancing robot demos
it’s funny how it exploits our natural sense of empathy — “that thing that looks like me must also find the same things i do difficult”
and i do mean exploits
just like chatbots do

I'm laughing out loud because, *twenty years ago*, a friend in robotics told me that showing off a dancing robot is what you do when your robot sucks, and a *group* of them even more so.

According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted & 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.
Just the start.
Common sense.

I don't think Mr. Beast is a sadist. He seems incapable to experience emotions, including the depraved joy the word "sadism" implies.
His audience on the other hand... They are what terrifies me.
