I don’t think “delivering for working people” has much to do with it.
Biden “delivered” for working people on almost every front; many of them hardly gave a shit.
We assume because the latter is true, the former must not have happened. It’s a bad assumption.

Yeah, there are segments of the far left and far right alike that are built on a sour paranoia that the better world of your youth was robbed from you. The main difference is whether the paranoia pools around disfavored ethnic cultural groups or nebulous monied interests.
Nostalgia is a fundamentally fascist impulse. The left should never traffick in these tropes because when the we cannot bring the 50s back through science or magic, the far right will be offering a much more twisted version of the same vision.

I think on some level I get really frustrated to see progressives claim the far past was better than today because it’s explicitly the MAGA project to take us back there, and people need to understand that it was a poor, cruel, ugly, hard world compared to the one we’ve built

I think, in some ways, propaganda is an inescapable reality of political discourse, and a necessary component with nationalism.

Read this thread. This is what @katmabu.bsky.social was protesting, and why she repeatedly says getting beaten up by ICE outside is nothing compared to the torture and crimes being committed inside Broadview. These thugs must be held to account.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.
