How many more deaths of people walking and biking will we tolerate before we make our streets safer?

This is a crisis throughout the East Bay - a woman was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing an Antioch street yesterday.

We need to rapidly transform our streets to slow cars and protect people.

those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
It was announced on October 16, 2025 that VIBE was "joining forces" with Rolling Stone. As a result, the majority of VIBE employees were laid off. If you have the means to give, this team could use the support! www.gofundme.com/f/support-vi...

This one fuels (pun intended) lots of interesting replies and quote tweets. Feels like someone could start a “Car Guys For Multi-Modal Cities” or “Car Guys For Transportation Choice” movement.
You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.

I think I mentioned this last week but I lived in a hud house as a kid and is a big reason why my life worked out the way it did

helping people have homes is good, actually
This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.

I definitely don't feel worse for this guy knowing he since died of an overdose, but gives you some idea the kinds of people you select for when you find who's up for a "roving patrol" kidnapping anyone brown lbpost.com/news/isaiah-...
Listen to this Border Patrol agent cry about how he's going to be DOXXED after being arrested for drunkenly barging into a woman's restroom with a loaded gun, demanding a date from the woman inside, and then punching the arresting officers.

Slip lanes are a scourge in urban areas. Thankfully, Toronto has removed at least 40 of them in the last two decades, but there are many still remaining.

The slip lane at Ossington and Dupont, which I encountered on a recent walk, had me thinking about these lately.

I'm beginning to suspect that the Trump administration wants a major increase in homelessness because they believe the resulting horrors will all be blamed on big city mayors.

So many of their recent actions on food support, housing support, and healthcare all point this way.
Some news: tomorrow at 9am, Ted Koppel + CBS Sunday Morning will air a two-part story on the devastating surge of full-time workers being pushed into homelessness.

I'll be interviewed along with two families from There Is No Place for Us. It would mean a lot if you'd watch and help spread the word.

The timing feels especially critical: this week the Trump administration moved to gut permanent housing programs nationwide. As the safety net is torn apart and the affordability crisis deepens, this report shows what's at stake for millions of people.
