(this is not at all to justify how bad the Democrats were on things like Gaza, but knowing how much worse Trump would be on the same things should have been enough to move the needle and for some reason it wasn't)

By all sane definitions Trump deserved to lose, but I think a lot of people who should have known better let other grievances with Democrats (Gaza, etc) and economic frustration distract from just how bad Trump was on all fronts. A ton of non-voters that kind of just sat out made the difference

I mean I feel like 2024 partially showed that Americans will make stupid decisions over small amounts of financial pain...so...I wouldn't put it past people

None that I can think of. I voted for Harris
I'm not saying that *my* vote would have changed, just that from everything I saw I don't see 2024 Biden doing any better than 2024 Harris. I could maybe see Harris doing better if Biden had dropped early enough for Harris to define herself

Certainly no defeated state, and you're right that it's not nearly as bad in magnitude. But not sure this comment fully captures the economic collision course we're on. Mass layoffs, rising prices and inflation, planned HUD cuts that could cause huge spikes in homelessness, etc

Only comparison I can think of to Newsom is maybe Swallwell. And I don't mean that in a good way

Keeping it real, seeing the result Biden definitely still would have lost in '24 if he stayed in the race

This makes a lot of sense, and I appreciate you breaking it down. I guess my question there then becomes are there any existing regimes that actually fully qualify as fascist under this definition?
