Who wouldn't you want saving you? Who would embarrass you if you had to tell your friends that they picked you up on the side of the road, battered and bruised, and took you to safety? Who would you feel awkward thanking for saving your life?

That's your neighbor. Love them.

Popping my head back into this to CONGRATULATE rva on the incredible return of Francine the Lowe’s Cat. I watched and prayed from afar and am so glad she was found.

Welp, I'm logged into a proxy because bsky has stopped allowing people with Mississippi IP addresses from using its service. Tough. I guess this marks the end of my regular time here. Probably for the best, even if that wasn't the intended purpose.

I constantly give away my copy of When Church Stops Working and therefore constantly order new ones and I have never, ever purchased a book so hot off the presses:

Instead of trash talking the people who write op-eds like this, I wish folks would understand that this is an effort to walk back former bad opinions, which is good! It is also definitionally a persuasive essay -- certain concessions are made for the sake of persuasion! That's high school English.

it is genuinely maddening to see pundits and reporters say things like “well trump has an advantage on crime” while the public consistently says “we think this guy sucks on crime”

Interested if any ministry folks are willing to admit a hot take that changed during their seminary studies. Here's one of mine:

I used to eye-roll at athletes who thanked God after games because I don't believe God chose the outcome, but now I recognize how gifts need to be acknowledged as gifts!

Oh never mind.

Pirro’s office won’t pursue gun charges over carrying rifles, shotguns
A statement from Pirro on Tuesday said D.C.’s blanket prohibition on carrying shotguns or rifles “is clearly a violation of the Supreme Court’s holdings.”

I'm always amazed at how we all carry search engines in our pockets and yet I still hear people bemoaning in public about things they think don't exist that totally do exist. If you're aware of an issue worth organizing over, you are most certainly not the first.

I promise I'm just following the lectionary and the Spirit, but this week's sermon suggests potential for a trend. Come worship and hand over that weight on Sunday, 11:00am @ Fondren PC(USA)!

As Republicans tout domestic troop deployments, ‘Jade Helm’ is relevant anew
In 2015, the right feared active-duty troops in local communities. In 2025, some Republicans can’t wait to send active-duty troops into local communities.

The Forever War comes home.
As Trump tightens his grip on the DC police and escalates his deployment of the National Guard there, it's probably worth noting that an internal Department of Homeland Security memo says operations like the one in LA may be needed "for years to come."

Since we're all talking about famous dudes less famous than their pop star partners, I present to you Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes.

This album got lost in 2022 for some reason, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a classic. The songwriting is some of the very best out there.
