50% tariffs on EU goods would break transatlantic trade and rightfully draws the headlines, but I'm not sure enough people understand that H.R.1 would impose effective tax rates of 50+% on foreign businesses from almost every major US trading partner. That'd break transatlantic investment.
If the Senate passes the Big Bill with section 899 as-is, you’ve got an unprecedented, firmly institutionalised transatlantic tax war.

EU and US would both have tax rules on the books harshly targeting each others’ firms (DSTs, UTPR, s899), with no easy way out.

Puzzled by the #r4today item saying the @resfoundation (#ResolutionFoundation) is calling for higher housing benefit to reduce the number of children in poverty. Most economists think this is an inefficient way of achieving this - so why would RF be calling for it?
