🧠💥 For #Dopamine (DA) & #Memory lovers!

📢 New paper!! we show that memory capacity (MC) in mice can be expanded from 6 to 8 objects using low doses of a D1 receptor agonist. Higher doses? Paradoxically, they reduce MC.

It took so much time to get here, we cannot give up!
Super disappointing but it shouldn't stop us as reviewers from hammering grants and manuscripts that don't consider sex as a biological variable. We don't (...shouldn't) need an NIH mandate to do good science.

(But come on seriously this is so frustrating)
Great write up at @thetransmitter.bsky.social on the seeming erasure of SABV in the new era of NIH. Gotta say The Transmitter is killing it the last few weeks, first to report on the Federal Register block and now this. Leading the charge! 💪 www.thetransmitter.org/policy/exclu...

📢 💥 We are ecstatic to announce that another one of our studies on Sanfilippo disease has been published in #MolecularPsychiatry.
#Sanfilippo is a rare genetic lysosomal storage disorder (#LSD) that leads to #neurodegeneration and #dementia.

Thank Bita @bita137.bsky.social for this post. It gives us an idea of how much scientists need training on mentoring and evaluation, to understand our limitations and biases.

Over 30 prominent scientists call for a ban on the creation of a "mirror cell"--a microbe made of molecules that are mirror images of their natural forms. It could cause a mind-boggling global disaster. Here's my story [gift link] 🧪https://nyti.ms/3OUCXp6

Research on so-called mirror cells, which defy fundamental properties of living organisms, should be prohibited as too dangerous, biologists said.

I am old so I can say this: innovation in neuroscience research can be accelerated if we did not waste so much resources repeating what we already know from NHP and rat research in Cre mouse lines
