I didn't make regular theatergoing a part of my life until relatively recently but I did drive an hour out of my way to catch Parasite and The Lighthouse, one after another, when both were doing limited showings in big cities only. Hell of a way to spend an afternoon.

My own experience with this: Going to a private religious high school did a number on me in many ways but it was also the first time in my school career my math scores didn't determine my placement in literally all of my classes, and for that reason alone was a net positive.
Those who weren’t resigned to the Math Idiot Garbage Bin as kids may not grasp how much “if you’re bad at math, you’ll die in a ditch and all will be better off for it” sentiment was floating around in the 90s and 2000s, but it sure felt real to me.

Oh, with all the talk about Romeo Is A Deadman (basically NMH4), it's worth mentioning that No More Heroes 1 & 2 got major updates on Steam not long ago, making them the definitive versions of the games.

Been thinking about how the hallmark of our generation is a sense of helplessness both politically and personally and how much of that comes from the rise of image-based social media, experiencing life as an unreality. Pushing back on helplessness means in part, pushing back on big tech.

Hearing about the Ring camera Superbowl ad (was in and out of the room during the game) and I'm wondering if I should text him and see if he ever saw a change in people's opinions about this.
A friend and former roommate of mine pissed a whole bunch of people off by (rightfully) stating that it's fucked up to stick a camera on your front door that records every person who walks by on what is almost certainly public property and each year has vindicated him more than the last.
It was inevitable.

A question I'm posing to gather data for a project: what are some activities/things you've been told 30 is to old to do i.e. skateboarding, playing video games? These do not have to be things you agree with, also looking for tangible acts and not general things like "caring what other people think."

When I got laid off last year, my union rep messaged me immediately to let me know that 1) I would stay on payroll for 3 months or until I found full-time work and 2) I had been assigned a case worker to help find said work. Which, after a few months of part-timing and temping, she did. Unions rock.

Getting asked for my government ID to use Discord is fucking dumb but when the server I'm most active in is mostly people showing off things they're doing with open-source tools, assignments they're sending their students, and jazz recommendations, I think it's safe for anyone to assume I'm over 18.
