A wee reflection on section 28/2A I wrote for LGBT History Month:
@ddonnelly.bsky.social explores the Legacy of Section 2A and finishes by saying, "We will not allow their identities to become unspeakable again."

It's a fascinating read to get to that conclusion.

You realise it is three years to the day that Brianna Ghey was murdered.

An innocent young girl killed because of transphobia and hate. What's changed in the three years since? Transphobes have upped their attacks. The government has increased discrimination.

It doesn't have to be like this.

The original instructor got in touch today saying he can offer more lessons from the 19th Feb. The test is on the 20th...
My partner needs a driving licence to keep his new job. Months ago, he booked a Feb test and got an instructor he was happy with. That instructor went to France for the whole of Dec and Jan (didn't tell him till after buying another block). Now his replacement has called off after 2 lessons. 😱

A strange and confusing tale from the bowels of (where else) the New York Times.

Has the American Medical Association changed position on trans youth care? A New York Times headline says they "endorsed restrictions" on youth surgeries. Other outlets, including NPR, report they did no such thing.
Did the AMA Release a Statement Cooling Support for Trans Youth Surgeries? — Assigned
Leading Off: The New York Times and NPR release contradictory American Medical Association statements, and California AG Rob Bonta sues a children’s hospital for ending gender affirming care.

It's not like you were the first.

Back in 2019, Sky News "reported" that 100s of young people in the UK were seeking the GC movement's help to detransition.

Utterly and completely untrue, a fiction out of the mouth of a serial liar, reported for the nation.

As anyone who takes a cursory look at the "gender critical" movement would know, transphobia and homophobia go hand in hand. Parents who don't want their kids to be gay in the UK don't try to "trans" them, they try to make them straight.

They would hate having a trans kid even more than a gay kid.

Hi @hannahsbee.bsky.social,

There will come a time when you will have to face up to what you've done because of this era of anti-trans hysteria.

Per an FOI request, Pogust Goodhead have ZERO cases against Tavistock, when 1000 were claimed three years ago.

The real Tavistock Clinic scandal: 1,000 court cases that never materialised
A FoI request for the data behind the media hysteria over the Tavistock Clinic presents quite a different picture

As teachers, we love working with young people, but the current workload is unsustainable for many teachers😵‍💫🙇‍♀️

Your wellbeing and your teaching are likely to benefit from less weekly class contact and more ‘preparation and correction’ time #Ballot #VoteYes

The lack of public toilets in Glasgow is disgraceful. Just bought a very expensive tiny coffee in Caffe Nero to use theirs and...turns out they don't have one!

If I recall correctly.... she gave less than 10% to the SC case.

I think its unfair to say she's bankrolling them. sure, donating and supporting. yes things would be harder for bigots without them

i would argue her connections and stuff are far more valuable to bigots than anything else she offers

1/🧵 This is quite significant as it’s the first public argument about which Equality Act provisions go against the Convention. A judge in London requested a written submission from Good Law Project and the EHRC but it was never published.
4/ One particularly interesting point is that the Scottish Ministers accept the existence of a “service test” under paragraph 28 of Schedule 3 (the Westminster Secretary of State denied it in GLP v EHRC) and they invite the court to proceed straight to considering incompatibility.
