A wee reflection on section 28/2A I wrote for LGBT History Month:
@ddonnelly.bsky.social explores the Legacy of Section 2A and finishes by saying, "We will not allow their identities to become unspeakable again."

It's a fascinating read to get to that conclusion.

More evidence that the "gender-critical" transphobes are working with fascists including Russia, Iran & Saudi Arabia. All countries where women are treated very badly.

"Gender-criticals" are not feminists & they do not "protect women"

They are trying to hold the COP 30 to ransom to be transphobic
Row over definition of ‘gender’ hangs over Cop30 plans to support women
Advocates say conservative states’ push to define gender as ‘biological sex’ would backslide on decade-old language within the UN

It's Trans Awareness Week this week, so loads of pages that don't usually mention trans people much will probably be posting something vaguely supportive.

If you can face it, maybe take a minute to comment something positive when you see this.

Don't let the organised anti-trans comments dominate.

But remember it was clearly a joke when he said you should punch trans women in the genitals, right @newsagents.bsky.social ? He's hilarious!
being racist to defend a paedophile might be a new low for a man who has been plumbing record depths for the better part of a decade

(the scored out word is ‘nonce’, not sure who did that but it’s not on Linehan’s original post)

Major news.

Police Scotland’s newly announced “sex at birth” recording policy represents a deeply regressive and discriminatory shift in policing practice. It raises profound concerns for the dignity, safety and human rights of transgender people across Scotland.

The existence of trans people is not an "ideology", BBC. It is a reality and one which Parliament has recognized.

(Entirely typical of the BBC that, confronted by a populist right attack, they will show willing by dumping on trans people. Weak with the strong, strong with the weak, as always.)

You briefly touch on the anti-trans bias in the BBC. I'm sure a fuller piece focusing on that would be welcomed by LGBT people all over the world. The BBC helped to mainstream this new wave of queer phobia by attacking stonewall and trans people.

Yes, "pregnant people" is inclusive language that describes pregnant cis women AS WELL AS trans men and nonbinary people, a lot of whom can get pregnant. But it also describes, like, 12-year-old girls who get pregnant. Do centrist pig-dogs think THEY are "women" too? Coz...bit of a red flag, that.

No shade on Joe, but it is notable how people who had deniability but were actively anti-trans have gone mask off like Emily Maitlis has here.

Marina Hyde being this weeks other example.

People notice:
I had no idea she was vile TERF. Ughh.

Quick question: does anybody have video footage from any of the events below? Or do you know anyone who does?
Please do get in touch if so, and I will explain full details of why I am hunting for this 🤗 (it’s for a very cool thing!)
Please share! 🙏

The EHRC's ‘interim guidance’ is transphobic, harmful - and legally wrong.

We’re in the High Court tomorrow to challenge it.

Equality & Human Rights Commission faces devastating challenge:

See press release & announcement.

Trans Exile Network supports this release and is yet to lodge its GANHRI submissions to strip EHRC of recognised status. 'Crowing' by the EHRC is sorely misjudged.

Emily Maitlis brags about her, Deb Cohen, and Hannah Barnes getting the Tavistock GIDS service shut down.

What she doesn't talk about is how Newsnight journalists manufactured outrage and concocted "scandals" based on unethical journalism - which they were called out for, but tried to hide...

important to remember that we we talk about the BBC’s right-wing bias we mean in the way they chose what to report on and how they frame those issues, and when the right talks about the BBC’s left-wing bias they mean that sometimes the person who reads out the news is black

I have already had several lawyers (former and present) reach out to thank me for my bravery in writing this piece. It's astonishing that stating such an obvious truth (that the judiciary cannot avoid the prejudices of the society it operates within) requires courage at all.
"As someone working in law, it’s heresy to say this, and it might even kill my chances of a career... But as a trans person, and someone fighting for the rights of my community, I refuse to remain silent. To me it just seems obvious: a heavily prejudiced society produces prejudiced institutions."
It’s no surprise that only 31% of trans people trust a legal system built to enforce prejudice, says Jess O’Thomson.

"Just ask yourself, would the BBC champion a presenter who was consistently asking robust questions about the effect of the recent Supreme Court judgment on trans rights? Or would they be more likely to champion someone who was clearly gender critical?"
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

i think the most sick thing about govt going all in on Esther's phone shit after her daughter was murdered in a crime which had not nothing to do with phones

... is that I spoke to Brianna's friends. On Tiktok. They were everything to her - you want to take that away from other kids like Brianna?
Do you not think it's bizarre to have strangers on the internet decide they know better than Brianna's own loved ones on what is or isn't insulting to her memory?

I've got no time for Rosie Duffield, but she turned up at a drop-in event in Parliament and that's been the limit of her involvement.
