Mealy-mouthed quibbler, too apathetic to reply, guys.
Public soup eater and occasional straw user.

Went to turn on Radio 3 this morning, but the dial slipped and I found myself listening to "Bitch Better Have My Money." Santa, consider yourself warned.

Great find by @saloplarus.bsky.social of Shropshire's first Black Kite at Wood Lane. It hung around the tip there late morning, often chased by 2CY Red Kites and Corvids. #shropshirebirding #ukwildlife 🪶

Spooky thing happened on Facebook last night (yes, I know, I know).

This random person messaged me through my public writing page to say my website was down. It was late, so I thought, "Oh hell" and went to check my site. Which was fine.

Spring is for baby animals.

(Scudderia sp. katydid nymph, probably first instar, only 2-3 mm long, in my garden this afternoon; shot at 2X and cropped) 🐙🌿📷 #insects

A bimble around the neighbourhood for the Monday lunchtime cycle ride, as I checked out a few sites for the Shropshire rookeries survey. The return of more unsettled weather felt strangely comforting, and lovely to hear my first Whitethroat of the spring @jannerbirder.bsky.social

Mike (c. 1908 – 1929) was a cat who guarded the gates of the British Museum whose fame was such that Time magazine devoted two articles to him on his death.
E. A. Wallis Budge's work describing the life of Mike has been viewed as the zenith of such biographical writing.

Good numbers of Slender Groundhoppers yesterday in Melverley at the marshy edge of a pond. First one swept by @lancefly.bsky.social then I saw another 10 or so, including what looks like a rather fat ie gravid female. Would be a little early, though Apr/May is the breeding season. #ukorthoptera
