I just developed an 8-hour course for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on the ethical and legal issues with advances in reproductive technology. It covers IVF, surrogacy, three-parent babies, cloning, and designer babies. OLLI just cancelled the class for lack of enrollment. Anyone else interested?

I live in Finland, have been here seven years. Finns love Americans and American culture. This is the first time I've started to see an actual shift away from that and I will point out I was living here during the last chunk of his *first* presidency as well. That wasn't enough to shake things up.

I picked a hell of a week to visit Europe, and Switzerland, at that.l I’ve spent three days at an international gathering, and, Americans: everybody else is deep into planning a post-US world. We are only worth considering as an opponent. New alliances are being formed. We are being left behind.

I keep thinking about the number of people that have to be involved to kidnap a small child, transport him to one facility or another, then an airport, then a plane, then another facility. Did no one on that chain stop and say hey what the fuck?

Recently, I got a notice from my new pharmacy provider that they wouldn’t cover my thyroid medication and bizarrely suggested insulin instead! I need my thyroid medication. Then a couple of days ago, they called and told me to disregard the letter they had sent. AI is such a time and labor saver!
