Charles E. Schumer puts on a big hot dog costume and gets ready to log on to Bsky dot app
I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

Brilliant storytelling is when the Incredibles shout plot at you through the speakers on a roller coaster.
This pretty much sums up why Disney Parks are being ripped up to shove up random franchises in every corner. Just a stunning lack of awareness of what makes these things special, why they work.
Sometimes, most of the time, it ain't about storytelling.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.
If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Arrived two hours early for tonight’s American Cinematheque’s Frankenstein screening and Q&A with Guillermo del Toro and still didn’t make it in. By the time they called it and said no one else would be getting in, there was still probably a couple hundred people in line.

Made a point to take my time and really savor the new volume of STAR WARS: VISIONS. This whole run is great, but out of all of them, I hope someone showed “BLACK” to George Lucas.

There’s a sense in which this is probably true of all the major branches of government, but it really feels like the Supreme Court has broken so bad at this point that the only reasonable solution is completely disbanding it and starting over from scratch.

I recognize that this is the same shitty argument people use against AVATAR, but sincerely, did anybody see this movie? I feel like there was the obligatory marketing blitz and then it just came and went totally unremarked upon.

I’m not accustomed to this many good and correct things happening in a single week. Maybe Cheney dying *DID* lift some kind of curse.

Democratic party leadership has been on autopilot for ten years, they weren't losing to fascism, fascism isn't popular enough for them to lose to fascism, they were allowing it to fill the void where their leadership should have been. Tonight we're seeing that we have other options. They should too.

Mamdani’s win should serve as a political obituary for not only Andrew Cuomo, but also Schumer and Gillibrand, who were too cowardly to endorse the candidate from their own party in their own state. Send them to the ash heap of history.
