As Somaliland wins diplomatic recognition from Israel, the move could upset Turkey’s interests in Somalia and the Horn of Africa.

It is inaccurate to the point of dishonest to use the phrase "self deport" to describe people detained in horrendous conditions agreeing to be removed from the country
A WBEZ and Sun-Times analysis shows detainees initially booked at Broadview were nearly twice as likely as detainees nationwide to self-deport. Legal experts said inhumane conditions, coercion and a lack of legal counsel were contributing factors.

A bit strange for the Trump FDA to ask for Denmark’s public health policies. Are you saying you want a lot of regular medical care to be state-funded? Are you advocating for 40% personal income tax to fund social services? If not, then shut up about the slightly different vaccine schedules.

I didn’t think I could go back to writing things down after drafting on a computer for years. I’m surprised at how much fun I’m having with it. I really look forward to my notebook time (unscheduled).

Tell me, does writing by hand have a place in your creative process?

I’m just going to say this (not diving back into an argument or attacking anyone):

The idea that journalists cannot accurately or fully report on topics they have strong feelings about is silly.

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.

In grad school I referenced this analysis that found that cops in the US kill more people than "criminals" do in other countries. And that's routine.
