How do those boots taste?
Fuck off. ICE was fine when we had a democracy and rule of law.

It also overstates how much we should cater to folks squatting on too much land and complaining that bike lanes and public transit funding makes it harder for them to drive in our cities. Don’t come here if you don’t like it.
This kind of stuff also imo overstates how much of America is actually "small towns"
I don’t always agree with of the broader political takes from some “abundance”-coded pundits but man the abundance critics are just pure nonsense merchants

like, what’s this guy’s deal? literally making up a guy to dunk on the idea that cities should build more housing and transit.

My family’s long defunct Christmas Eve service tradition was waiting for this one guy who always sang In The Bleak Midwinter (a patently ridiculous song, it wasn’t winter and it was the desert) in the style of William Shatner. We would sit there in the pews vibrating with silent laughter. Hilarious.
every year we go to christmas eve service at my parents’ megachurch and for the past two years an older person has either died or passed out in the middle of service watch this space

Whatever you do, don't bring up the marinara's divorce.

This is the most coked up you can be without actually opening a restaurant during the presser
yeah I mean it’s genuinely sad that the “reasonable old school” Republican (who Dems eagerly and unanimously voted to confirm) is out here doing pressers blatantly geeked out coke and it’s not subtle

Sam is a real one, and while he'll be missed at Backbar, he leaves a legacy and a staff that is well equipped to carry it forward. Thank you for everything, Sam!

Because we are not people, we’re vectors of extraction.
They’re adding medical debt back onto credit reports.

They’re going to garnish wages over student loans.

They promised to “Make America Great Again”. To make it more affordable.

Instead they’re ensuring people suffer as much as possible.

It’s intentional. Ask yourselves why.
Wage garnishment for defaulted student loans to resume early next year
The Education Department had stopped collecting wages to repay defaulted loans during the coronavirus pandemic.

That dude is CONSTANTLY creeping on people and asking what their marital status is. What a weirdo.
Oh it's cold outside? should we tell everybody? Should we throw a party? Should we invite Parson Brown?

The piece I think Democrats miss 100% of the time (they don't work for us, they exist to maintain the status quo which drives donations) is that, according to the GOP, someone with diabetes SHOULD die. It doesn't occur to Democrats to point this out. So they focus on the $700, not the eugenics.
Ossoff: "She got her new insurance quote & it's $700 more per month than what she's paying now. She's diabetic. She had surgery a few months ago for something else. She told me she cried again bc she realized she's gonna have to cancel her insurance. She believes she might die bc of a policy choice"

“Several weeks” of “hardly sleeping” and it looks like THIS.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde
is there a word for when marginalized characters are relegated to the sidelines of a biased narrator's perspective, and you get the sense that they're living full and compelling lives but because the narrator's pov is so limited we have to struggle against the text to read them as fully-realized ppl

As someone who has had shingles before I was old enough to get the vaccine: GET THE SHINGLES VACCINE. Even if all it did was prevent shingles that would be more than enough. This is just running up the score tbh.

Arise, arise, Discounts of Ten Percent!
stocks shall be shaken, inventory shall be splintered,
a deals-day, a free shipping day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the weekend's ending!
Death! Death! Death!
Forth Shoppers!
I've seen deals you people wouldn't believe. Delivery trucks on fire off the shoulder of Best Buy. I watched C-notes glitter in the dark near the Target Superstore. All those bargains will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to shop.
Cyber Monday is here and deals are going fast! These deals are diaphanous. They are receding even as we speak, becoming mere memories of deals, prices longed for but lost, hints at what could have been had for less. A golden slant of sun through window falls on an empty countertop. Act now.
