The group bike ride for Alex Pretti is about to depart in Minneapolis, stopping at his memorial, then Renee Good’s, and finishing at the VFW. If you can join, hop on anywhere. It’s a warm 17° & sunny!

I’ve never seen this many cyclists for a group ride. ⚡️✊🏽⚡️🚲⚡️✊🏽⚡️ #RIPPretti

The Lady in the Pink Jacket is not safe. She hasn't been home, and has not used her phone. Someone else moved her car for her, and someone was there following them.

The only reason Homan replaced Bovino as the face of the occupation is because his lies are more polished and he doesn’t dress like a member of the Third Reich in public. But the policies and the state instigated violence remain unchanged.
CNN: How did we get to a place where we had Bovino having Border Patrol agents stopping citizens in interior of the country, asking them ID, creating fear? Who made the decisions to allow this kind of operation to proceed?

HOMAN: The reason for the massive deployment is bc of the threats & violence

If you aren't familiar with what DARVO is, get familiar with it. "Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender." The govt is relying on DARVO as a tactic on a national scale, and it is also increasingly a conservative tactic to attack outspoken critics of their ideas, theories, & renderings of history.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

@dael.bsky.social have you considered
Some thoughts:

1. The deadline for nominating a person or group for the Nobel Peace Prize is Feb. 1.

2. History professors are qualified nominators.

3. The people of Minnesota have been awe-inspiringly peaceful in the face of state violence.

4. He would be so mad.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

THREAD: 404 Media has been covering ICE and the technology they've been using to surveil and raid "targets", detain people based on a flawed facial recognition app, and lie about violence on the streets.

They have established itself as an agency that cannot be trusted to live in or present reality.

At least four videos show what really happened when ICE shot a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday. DHS has established itself as an agency that cannot be trusted to live in or present reality.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Accurate headline would be "Trump attempts to violate constitution to appease AI investor cronies in the White House" as @nytceciliakang.bsky.social well knows, but NYT editors refuse to accurately headline these stories. The lede should mention regulations are meant to stop kids killing themselves.
They should have worked this part into the headline:

Just because someone is in a position of power does not make them smarter than even the average person. It does not bestow a magical anointing on them that makes all their thoughts holy and just.

It just makes them powerful.
Plus, publications themselves are now run by callous editors and publishers (often from England inexplicably) who do not invest in reporter development and are fine with waves of devastating layoffs. I have friends who were recently fired by Emma Tucker of the Wall Street Journal for no reason

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

Standing up to corruption and gross abuse of power is painful. It has always required and will continue to require sacrifice.

It’s hard. But if we don’t make the hard decisions now, things will continue getting worse until they’re nearly insurmountable.
It’s an honor for GW to be on this list of schools to be banned from State Dept programs for having decent hiring and ethical practices. Hope it stays that way. Complying with Trump’s bigoted demands and open racism is shameful.
