"The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone."
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Hundreds marched through San Francisco Saturday evening in solidarity with Minneapolis after federal agents shot and killed 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti. It was at least the third shooting involving federal agents in the city in three weeks.

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

San Diego police shot and killed a Black man kneeling with his hands up two days ago. This was also recorded.

It’s not just ICE. It’s not just Trump. Our entire system is built on white supremacy.

A white person standing up for Black/immigrant neighbors also becomes disposable.

Successful strategy developed to disrupt ICE's logistics and remind businesses that it’s the people they need to please, not the buffoon platoon. Cheers, Minneapolis — we will take this lesson on board for our own cities.

We wanted to cancel our two events today in Kittery with the storm bearing down.

Our people insisted we stay the course.

Susan Collins could never.

Governor Mills could have signed LD 1971 into law last June. Instead, she delayed until a few weeks ago and it won’t be enforced for months.

She could have protected Mainers against ICE. But she didn’t.

That’s not leadership. That’s just Susan Collins with a D next to her name.

Of course it was dictated to her. Noem is a cypher. She simply does what she’s told.

Calling for her to be impeached will achieve nothing, because:

1) the Senate will never vote to convict and remove.

2) she is not the real problem.
Sounds like people inside the Trump admin want to save Noem and dump Miller. 🍿 🍿 🍿

Thank you @vanhollen.senate.gov for standing out on the front lines and advocating for action!
Trump's ICE just purchased a warehouse in MD for $100M to hold 1,000+ detainees.

Last week, I joined Marylanders demanding that ICE stay out.

This Admin is spitting in the face of communities from Minneapolis to Maryland & wasting our tax dollars.

We won't back down. (1/2)

As I mentioned on MS NOW yesterday, it’s really important that no one, including the media, let Trump distance himself from this thing that he has vociferously defended and over which he has power.
Was on TV earlier, asked about Leavitt trying to distance Trump from the Pretti death and then about some of the other stories we've heard about immigration enforcement. (Sorry for the cruddy quality.)

At the very least, Congress must disarm ICE, prohibit it from using racial or ethnic profiling, end arrest quotas, remove agents’ immunity from criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits, and slash its funding. The Senate has the chance to rein in ICE this week.

Keep calling: (202) 224-3121
