Private Finance Initiatives (PFI) is one of the biggest cons created by Tories, expanded by Labour.

For every £1 of private investment in public assets govt repays £6, resulting in higher debt/taxes.

Cheaper for govt to borrow or it can create money

But govt is reviving PFI. Must change policy.
Why the reshuffle alone won’t change the government’s fortunes
"For better electoral fortunes, the government needs to junk neoliberal policies, never-ending austerity; directly invest in infrastructure and redistribute income and wealth."

This is thinly disguised homophobia by Farage.

The same far-right figures who have spent years coming for my trans friends & colleagues are emboldened again against anything different from their "normal."

Today and everyday I stand with the whole LGBTQIA+ community.

Your struggle is my struggle.
Nigel Farage:

"Children who have two stable parents have a better chance in life... The most stable relationships, the ones that last the longest, tend to be between men & women... There's an awful lot of kids in the country not getting the kind of start... they deserve."

Farage has two ex-wives.

As suspected Trump is using the death of Charlie Kirk as a means to further vilify the left. The killer is still at large. We don't know who it was, the reason why or their political affiliation. The concern now is Trump using this as justification for the elimination of political opposition.

Farage's attempted Trumpification of our politics is a good insight to what Reform will try to emulate if they somehow reach No.10. They are dangerous people with dangerous politics and should be nowhere near positions of power.

The US administration doesn't care about legalities. Snatching innocent people off the street without due process is intentional. Forcibly removing undocumented children from foster homes for deportation is intentional. Detaining legal immigrants from Hyundai on speculation is intentional.

It's bad enough the US is settling into fascism but the fact that the people in the charge are catastrophically stupid makes you wonder how easy fascism is to do.

I've stopped looking back on history and thinking, "They worked hard for that, those nasty little turds."

No. No they didn't.

Nothing says, "Hey international companies, bring your manufacturing to the US" like arresting 475 workers at a Hyundai (70% of whom are South Korean).

Looks like Venezuela is in need of some democracy! Definitely nothing to do with their vast resources and oil.
Defense Secretary Hegseth does not rule out regime change in Venezuela, saying: "That's a presidential-level decision and we're prepared with every asset that the American military has."

Can't say I'm surprised. The man is a walking contradiction. Everything he says to the public and in media he in fact does and believes in the opposite. Definition of a snake oil salesman.
Politico: "The Sun has seen evidence to [a US] committee submitted by Nigel Farage in which he suggests the White House should use “diplomacy and trade” in the free speech battle, which sounds like calling for Britain to be bullied into a law change."

Is Farage calling for sanctions AGAINST the UK?

Why the problem with "it is never the comms" takes is that without an effective communications strategy a government cannot generate sustainable public support that creates the space for it to implement successful policies.

Effective comms and successful policy implementation are intertwined.
Public attention is to electoral politics what aerobic base is to the Olympic marathon; it mightn’t win you the race entirely on its own, but without it you aren’t even a runner.

A Labour party not able to stand on its own principles and instead opting to lean into right wing rhetoric to court the votes of right wingers is no Labour party at all. Spinless decision from a spinless government. Sure they campaigned on 'change' and we're getting more of the same.

is it only asylum seekers our Labour Prime Minister would object to living next to or would the sentiment apply to black and brown people in general? if merely the former, would he like to explain how he knows people he sees, say, in the street, actually are asylum seekers and not citizens?
Oh nothing, just the actual Prime Minister telling people they’re entirely correct to drive asylum seekers out of their communities

there are probably a handful of more evil politicians in the world but i know starmer tops the list of the most pathetic
NEW: Keir Starmer has said he hangs the English flag in his home and 'always sits front of a Union Jack'

He told the BBC: 'I'm very encouraging of flags. I think they're patriotic and a great symbol of our nation.'

And he is meant to be the alternative to Reform and Conservative? Absolutely laughable. The climate in this country is hostile to asylum seekers already and he, in his wisdom, decided the smart thing to do is throw some more gasoline on the fire.

The thing about a lot of these never Trump Republicans is that, unlike a lot of institutionalist Dems who think the fever will break and we can all return to comity or whatever, these guys saw the rot up close and know the only appropriate response is to tear them out of government root and branch.
If you had told me in 2012 that Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign manager would be posting like this 13 years later i would not have believed you

Leaning into the right wing rhetoric for perceived political capital and bolstering virtue signalling Tories and reformers is only laying the groundwork for their goal of withdrawing from the ECHR. I'd sooner not live in a country that seeks to envision a Trumpian style immigration system.
August 30, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Labour needs a dramatic change of rhetoric on immigration. Their reluctance to address this issue head on and combat the misinformation with the facts is a political failure.

It is the ultimate form of martyrdom for a fascist. The pride placed on youth and mythologisation of the dead, in fascist societies, glorify death in service of the state or leader as a great honour.
fascism is anti-life, not just for the victims of fascism, but for the fascists themselves. they don't want to reach their promised utopia, they want to die in pursuit of it

On the Federal Reserve and their refusal to cut interest rates 'Note the justification offered by JD Vance this week, that Trump is “much better able to make those determinations” than “unelected bureaucrats” because he embodies the will of the people.'
August 29, 2025 at 6:17 PM
They 100% should. It would go a long way to combat all the misinformation. But that would mean the government showing an ounce of professionalism and competence which I don't see them doing anytime soon given their current media campaigns and rhetoric surrounding immigration.
