Leaning into the right wing rhetoric for perceived political capital and bolstering virtue signalling Tories and reformers is only laying the groundwork for their goal of withdrawing from the ECHR. I'd sooner not live in a country that seeks to envision a Trumpian style immigration system.

They 100% should. It would go a long way to combat all the misinformation. But that would mean the government showing an ounce of professionalism and competence which I don't see them doing anytime soon given their current media campaigns and rhetoric surrounding immigration.
