My feature on how musicians deal with the American medical system is here, with artists detailing their struggles to get decent care for cancer, gender-affirming care, chronic illnesses, substance abuse, and catastrophic injuries. This one is important to me, so please take a few mins to read it!
Seven musicians open up about navigating the complications and cruelty of American health care: ‘You realize the whole system is broken, religion is broken, government is fucking broken — you’re on your own.’

CMJ and all the indie venues, when the city felt like a playground for seeing live music. The Hifi jukebox and other bars of that ilk, with good tunes and dirt cheap beer so you only needed to a few 20s in your pocket.
I'm not going to read the NYT story but I do want to hear what other people would put in their "Lost New York" takes, mine would include Dr Zizmor ads and the free transfer between the Broadway G/Lorimer JMZ stops

Let’s. Go.
Healthcare is a human right. With the New York Health Act, we’ll end premiums, co-pays, and deductibles — for good. Single-payer healthcare for all New Yorkers.

I know it’s easy to poke holes in Catholic anything, but for those of a certain age who grew up in it, this is a big ass deal. Leo rocks.
One of thirty transgender women who attended today’s pope-hosted lunch with Sr. Geneviève Jeanningros says she received “violent messages ” in the lead up to today, but writes she was at a “grade A reception” with Leo. She delivered a letter to Pope on behalf of all transgender persons.

For most of the last two thousand years I'd have advised strongly against visiting a Catholic priest's "mancave" but this guy is putting together a heck of a jersey collection.

Famously, what people loved most about the Biden era was being told what they were experiencing at the grocery store was not actually happening.
Trump: "If you look at affordability, which they campaigned on, they lied. Because they talked about 'Oh, prices are up' -- no, prices are down under the Trump administration and they're down substantially."

A Final Indignity: Cuomo's White Ford Bronco Got a Parking Ticket
Thanks to an eagle-eyed New Yorker, who saw the car illegally parked outside of the ex-gov's Sutton Place apartment on Wednesday, and reported it to 311.
