Anybody who is remotely okay with Trump saying the US "will take over" Gaza has fully dehumanized Palestinians. If China said they'll "take over" Alaska what would the reaction be? My (current) biggest pet peeve is when people say TikTok was "banned for 24 hours".
Perhaps you could say that TikTok banned itself on U.S. devices during that time, but I don't think that's how people are using the phrase and understanding it.
