Furious Furred Judgement.
This rabbit absolutely is judging me.

Please buy a book as we need to buy treats and salad this week.

Books are on sale, treats and salad are not.

Coming soon to Canadian cities near you!
Everyone knows data centers use a ton of water.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.
AI’s water problem is worse than we thought

According to a Leger poll from Sept. 30, more than half of Canadian’s intended to take some form of action around the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day itself was one of the TRC’s calls for action.

Sheesh. That just seems epically stupid & short sighted.
Vancouver's 2026 draft budget has PASSED.

Approved on a 7-4 vote on party lines, with ABC in favour and councillors Fry/Bligh/Orr/Maloney opposed.

Property tax freeze, $50 million more for VPD, and cuts to Arts, Culture, Planning and Sustainability departments, among others.

Full story to come.

three people buying a book we didn't really have on our radar at my old bookstore was instant "order more, face it out, somebody on staff read it and write a talker for it" territory
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Our story of the week is “Things I Don’t Tell My Sister” by MM Schreier in Factor Four Magazine.

This story teases you with one horror of sisterhood only to hit you with a different one altogether at the end. Short, sweet, and sublimely messed up.

Thank you to @expositionreview.bsky.social and judge Kiana Shaley for selecting this story for an honorable mention 🙏🏻

I hope it reminds us of the precious "normal" in our current lives, how our efforts to protect them *do* matter.
