Jim Acosta makes a very good argument that trump's takeover of V could lead to his being a wartime president so the midterms become less meaningful. It would be a strong distraction from all other issues.

It's my understanding that the IC in the Hague has 2 parts, the ICJ (justice) which deals with state issues, and countries in the UN are auto joined, and the ICC (crime) which must be joined. If just 1 of 2 parties are members, the other can be convicted in the ICC without being a member.

This may be a record. It's taken me just over 1/2 hour to break my promise of no more dystopian posts for the day. Like any good new year's resolution, I'll keep trying.

The ICC in the Hague is not a court of a foreign land. It is the legal branch of the United Nations, so it represents the judicial arm of 193 member states. They can now try Trump for his crimes. But will they?

It seems that Trump may have made a deal with Russia, and perhaps China, agreeing that Russia can continue the assault on Ukraine and China can attack Taiwan without US interference.

Trump's illegal attack on Venezuela shows that the US military WILL follow illegal orders, something that had been in question. Next: Canada?

Because Trump attacked Venezuela, he can now be tried in the International Criminal Court in the Hague, even though the US is not a member. Let's see if they have the courage to do so.

It's hard to say anything here without someone jumping all over it. What that does is discourage a free flow of thought. Lighten up for fuck sake. We're (almost) all on the same side here.

A serious investment in education, including studies in logic and critical thinking, could really help people with their fear of the liberal elite. To some degree that elite exists of course, but it's much less pervasive, less superior and easier to understand than they seem to think.

Perhaps they are bots, or spam accounts, but being here on Bluesky has made me realize that many people are so far down the pit of conservative stupidity that they are unreachable. Sad, but time to move on.

The world is at a tipping point, and what we're doing right now is not working. Past time to make some really scary changes. Leaving our comfort zone is our only option.

Sad but real recent criticism: problems not getting solved because "liberals" won't "cross the isle" to discuss solutions. So frustrating when folks don't understand their own gov't. Rep's control all levels of gov't. THEY DON'T NEED the dem's. They could solve most of the problems on their own.

There is really no "one size fits all" solution to the problems the world faces right now. Sometimes it's gentle conversation, and knowing when to quit. Sometimes it's all out war. We have to understand the costs, the compromises and the ultimate objectives.

Innocent veterans are being arrested without reason, mothers are lining up at food banks, and Trump's worth is estimated at over $5 Billion and growing fast. There is no fucking way this makes sense.

The US debt has reached $38,000,000,000,000 while Trump continues to throw money at his friends, the billionaires. Trouble is, for us, that's a meaningless number. We simply can't relate. We understand $38,000 and perhaps $380,000. But $38,000,000,000,000? Nope.

Contrary to what you were told, it's not wrong to end a sentence with a preposition. That myth started when Old English was being translated from Latin, and ending a sentence with a preposition didn't work. So, it's not wrong. Example: is there a hole we can toss Vance into?
