As I drift off to sleep tonight I am again thinking about how we need to re-establish the concept of the commons, from an ecological and humanitarian point of view it just feels increasingly urgent we break this idea that private ownership extends everywhere and to all things.

I think the fact it is being used as one is a mechanism by which the whole thing can be defused without any actual consequences to the abusers.
Because it is now seen as political theatre and not horrifying abuse, authority has all the justification it needs not to act.

Hey so child abuse is not a political gotcha and if you are using it as one understand that a) I no longer trust you and b) I assume you are shitty to survivors. Poor people and lefties abuse children too. A lot. And they enjoy equal impunity for it.

On a less obliquely sardonic note: I appreciate as much as everyone else the absurdity of Epstein's apparent involvement with the existence of /pol/, but that still leaves us with the matter of considering why it is that disillusioned young men are so prone to fall down reactionary rabbit holes, no?
It sure does seem like reactionary politics and the loose coalitions of wealthy and influential people is oriented around securing the right of powerful men to exploit the abject and gender-marginalized without consequence, and selling this as a model for other men to aspire to and emulate...

The fact that there is no real organised effort to inflict consequences on those in the Epstein files and they are instead just being used as political entertainment should tell you that none of our current democratic or justice systems are fit for purpose. Not one.

Yeah for people not up to date on the back story, the conservative war on "Gender Ideology" actually started as a response to Gender Theory, and specifically the impact of Judith Butler's "Gender Trouble" at the United Nations summit for women in 1995.
This is more directly about trans people but "gender ideology" has always kind of meant "the abominal idea that men and women can be equal"
