In the Netherlands, cycling and public transport aren’t competitors—they’re teammates. Invest in one, and the other gets stronger.

Nowhere is this clearer than at railway stations, where every design decision sharpens the bike infrastructure network and makes the door-to-door journey even smoother.

Start of a rash of 50ths perhaps - I launched a cycling group offshoot of Greenwich Friends of the Earth with a meeting mid-November 1976 but it was just me really, not sure it counts for @greenwichcyclists.bsky.social start date! Have a good celebration in Islington.

Well said Ranty, I’d like this as a poster.

Cycling (especially on e-bikes) improves cognitive function & mental well-being of older adults. We need to make streets safe enough for older people to feel able to cycle with more protected bike lanes & low traffic neighbourhoods.

Over 8 million ‼️ e-bike hire journeys annually are made in Wandsworth 🚲🎉

We welcome this growing demand for cycling and are pleased the council provides dedicated parking bays in busy town centres. It’s a far more efficient use of kerb space and road space, cutting congestion and pollution 💚

110 drivers arrested in Northamptonshire during the festive drink & drug drive campaign. These weren’t mistakes — they were selfish, criminal choices. Impaired driving kills and devastates families. This culture must end. No drink. No drugs. No excuses.

Isn't there a TfL Strategic Cycling Network somewhere ?
Well, it’s interesting that one of the things that got lost was any ambition to build Cycle Superhighway 5 to Lewisham.

Fewer, better superhighways now seems to wind up as TfL not having plans along their roads, only across them. Which isn’t going to be an acceptable plan.

LTNs don't cause delays to attendance times

From someone who has the facts

File for future reference
@barnsburylaycockcs.bsky.social
Reminded by Fire plenary this week to dig out the response from former fire commissioner Andy Rowe to a question about LTNs and delay to brigade attendance times.

⏱️ 🚒 Turns out low traffic streets support brigade attendance times.
A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times.

"We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

Very moving vigil for Irene Leardini by side of A2 in New Cross Gate tonight. She was cycling here two weeks ago. RIP.

Sad we are still gathering at the side of busy roads asking why nothing has been done to make them safe.

Thanks to all at @lewishamcyclists.bsky.social for organising the vigil.
