Cycling to work, school & play should be quick and convenient and not put you in mortal danger. Here will be noise about this healthy transport choice.
TfL report a wopping 43% rise in serious injuries to car occupants. The figures will come as little surprise to many Londoners concerned at the reckless way that cars are driven by some drivers . www.standard.co.uk/news/london/...
E-bike crashes account for almost 1 in 5 serious injuries to cyclists in London
1,200 cyclists likely to have been seriously injured in the capital in 2025 as risk of being badly hurt or killed increases

Cycling (especially on e-bikes) improves cognitive function & mental well-being of older adults. We need to make streets safe enough for older people to feel able to cycle with more protected bike lanes & low traffic neighbourhoods.

coming up with a new idea called "driving like shit olympics". no more bland, unprovable statements like "california drivers are the WORST" allowed. whichever state wins every 4 years gets a moonshot-sized public transit investment to get those fuckers off the road

Over 8 million ‼️ e-bike hire journeys annually are made in Wandsworth 🚲🎉

We welcome this growing demand for cycling and are pleased the council provides dedicated parking bays in busy town centres. It’s a far more efficient use of kerb space and road space, cutting congestion and pollution 💚

Thank you to everyone who attended the Vigil for Irene Leardini this evening. Good to see members of the press, Lewisham Council and our local MP attend.

We'll be writing to TfL to try to engage in some sort of dialogue about the A2. Hopefully we won't have to do this again.

I'm tired of having to walk my cycle the last block home, playing frogger trying to cross the street, and reporting broken bollards. New Cross deserves healthy and safe streets.

Friends of Irene, cycling advocates, neighbours and politicians gathered this evening to mourn and speak out on the urgent need to fix this dangerous stretch of the A2 outside NXG station, where a woman needlessly lost her life. Powerful to see a large group on a rainy Friday night.

Last night there was a vigil for the first cycling fatality of the year on London's streets. I was there. Here are some thoughts (no paywall).

If this strikes a chord with you, please comment on the post and share.

With the un-consulted deployment of autonomous vehicles planned for London this year, it is well worth your time having a watch of this video from Dr Nick Reed who gives a very rounded appraisal of things from the UK perspective.

With criminality this serious ending in death, what other crime would escape national news? This was only BBC local. What more must happen for a lifetime ban? Driving is a privilege, not a right. Our culture — and sentencing — needs radical change.
