I’ve never been so invested in elections if a city I’ve never been to. I hope folks in NYC have a lovely night. I watched the Mandani acceptance speech and blinked when he reached for a Eugene Debs reference at the get-go. Of course it’s on brand, but nice to see.

Walked into a store in Chilliwack today and they were already playing Christmas music. I looked at the cashier when paying and mentioned I worry for their sanity if this is starting now. She looked about ready to cry. The horrors visited upon retail workers are legion.

I have a feeling someday Zohran’s campaign will be the subject of classroom study. In the near term though I hope the key points get adopted and adapted all over the place.

I cannot tell you how many tech journalists at prominent media organizations do not understand this
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
