What exactly is throwing a flash bang at a car supposed to achieve, other than very clearly demonstrating that these agents are untrained, undisciplined, panicked, cruel, sloppy, uncoordinated, scared, and unprofessional?

"Let's stun the guy driving a car near a crowd" great decision boys
Non-protesting dad just trying to hustle his kids, as young as 6mo, out of the neighborhood. ICE threw a flash-bang INTO HIS car, all 6 kids in the hospital now.

If anyone wondered how things turn against occupying armies there's a case study playing out in front of you.
That is what was relayed

“SOF and drones can do everything” is symptomatic of the current American Dysfunctional Way of War.
it really seems like his vision here is a war conducted almost entirely by small SF units who he thinks can sufficiently secure the country

that's wildly different from kidnapping a guy. And exactly the kind of work SF are, historically, bad at

This is nuts, the US currently doesn't have a government role in Venezuela.

Why do these journalists accept a claim from the administration that is easily verified as false?
BRENNAN: How long will the US government role in Venezuela continue?

CHRIS WRIGHT: It could be a year or two. It could be more.

I can't say this loudly enough: THEY ARE TRYING TO NORMALIZE THE KILLING OF CIVILIANS FOR PARTICIPATING IN FIRST AMENDMENT PROTECTED PROTEST ACTIVITIES.
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."

The past couple days have made it clear that arresting and prosecuting Johnathan Ross isn’t just the right thing to do, it is necessary to prevent future violence by ICE who have interpreted the situation as “we can do that to whoever we want”
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

"..invasion of🇮🇶had congressional authorization, public support...international support from over 40 countries & more than 150K UStroops...to occupy & stabilize... And even w/all that, ousting Hussein set off an insurgency & an ethnoreligious civil war, gave rise to ISIS & increased🇮🇷s regional power"
The last time the US initiated a regime change war was 2003 against Saddam Hussein in Iraq. With Maduro in Venezuela, as with Hussein in Iraq, American forces destabilized a problematic but relatively stable situation, even though the country had not attacked the US, nor harbored terrorists who did.

In case you were wondering what Mayor Mandan meant when he said “For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty” please see the pearl clutching about Mayor Frey dropping the F bomb.
Frey: "This notion of inflammatory comments -- c'mon guys. I dropped an F bomb, they killed someone. Which one of those is more inflammatory? I'm going with the killing somebody."

The point about a defense budget is to spend as *little* as you possibly can while meeting your security needs.

Constantly spending more and more of your national wealth on defense is symptomatic of a state in decline.

Trump calls for $1.5 trillion military budget in 2027, up from $901 bln in 2026
Any such increase would require congressional authorization, which could pose a challenge.

Must-read - I've long thought the effects of social media on the mass public are likely overrated but their effects on elites are underrated
New, from me: The Trump administration isn’t just using social media to shape a narrative. They view the world through a social media lens in a way that is plausibly corrupting their judgment and undermining their performance.

This is also a field test.

If the press lets them muddy the waters on executing a woman in Minneapolis despite multiple witnesses and video recordings clearly depicting what happened, the message they'll take away is that there's nothing they can't get away with.

Nothing.

Stop going to Johnson & Thune’s press conferences to be lied to. Start asking actual questions about why Congress has fully abdicated its power. Leave when they don’t answer & keep lying. Literally turn off the cameras & walk out. The entire model of “normal journalism” c.1945-2016 doesn’t work now.

If he means WWII, there were no US casualties in Greenland during the war. The casualties from patrols destroying Nazi weather bases were Danish.

If he means SS Dorchester getting torpedoed near Greenland, that's part of the Battle of the Atlantic, which wasn't about protecting Greenland.
Ogles: "It's important that we have a stake in Greenland, that they are quite frankly a protectorate of the US. They've been in relationship with Denmark - that needs to end. We've spilled more blood protecting Greenland than the Danes... we are the dominant predator force in the Western Hemisphere"
