Remember her name: Aliya Rahman

Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.

It’s powerful. It’s gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

They’re taking children from Minnesota and locking them up like criminals in detention camps in Texas.

For the love of God, send our kids home and bring an end to this nightmare.

Sigh of relief for the Haitian people in Springfield.
A good thing happened today: Haitians in Springfield, Ohio and elsewhere are (for now) safe from the planned ethnic cleansing operation. This happened because people came together — organizers, reporters, and those who care — and made it happen. Let’s take the win and continue the work.

Really proud of the work our Delegates are doing to advance tenants rights here in Virginia. If we want to fight for affordable communities, we have to get to work on the Federal level as well.

Serious Question for Rep. John McGuire:

Can’t both parties agree that it’s not ok for Trump to take $500 million from a foreign country and then hand them one of our most sensitive national security assets?

*Highly* informative comment on the prospect of uranium mining in Southside and its potential consequences. Yet another way in which John McGuire is betraying the interests of his own constituents.
🧵1/2: Bear with me—let’s talk about uranium mining. John McGuire won’t ask questions before he sells out our Southside communities.

Some good news!
Listening to Charlottesville City Council members read the resolution on ICE & Border Patrol. It's not perfect, but it's damn good. I'll see if I can find the text somewhere. Passes unanimously. boxcast.tv/channel/aleu...

Charlottesville City Council passes the resolution renaming a portion of West Main Street in honor of the universally loved restauranteur Mel Walker. If you know this city, you already know what part of West Main.

I’m hearing this passed out committee 8-6! Let’s go!!!!!!
TIME SENSITIVE ACTION: Historically, organized labor has achieved gains that extend far beyond its own membership (ie limits on child labor, the 40-hour workweek). These gains depend on workers’ right to collective bargaining, a right that Virginia’s public sector employees currently do not have.

7am finance committee meetings lead to a bit of doodling. As a general rule tax credit bills are not approved because they are rarely shown to incentivize or change behavior (they mainly reward existing behavior). Better to work towards a comprehensive progressive tax code than piecemeal fixes.
