Let’s build a stronger Virginia together
I turned on Fox tonight and in just one segment hosts called for: suspending jury trials, impeaching judges who limit Trump, and invoking the Insurrection Act. And yet, not one panelist expressed concern for the Pretti family or for freedom against unchecked federal power.

We are expecting some severe weather tonight and tomorrow in Virginia. Please keep up to date with all weather alerts and make sure you have an emergency preparedness plan.

Senators, obey your oath. Vote against ICE’s blank check to kill with impunity.

This includes every GOP Senator who’s bragged about carrying the Constitution in their pocket or posed with a Gadsden flag and now actually has a vote to check federal tyranny. Remember this?

It’s heartbreaking and infuriating to meet with local leaders and hear how more and more counties are losing their OB-GYNs as maternal health deserts continue to expand across Southside. And yet, Congress and McGuire continue to gut our rural healthcare systems

Maternity Care Desert: Virginia, 2024 Report
Maternity care deserts are counties in which access to maternity health care services is limited or absent. Access to quality maternity care is a critical component of maternal-infant health.

Inspired by the 100-year-young quilt artist Edith Younger Edmunds, who shared with Halifax the history of how the Underground Railroad used quilts to save lives.

In 1963 on the MLK Bridge in Danville, mostly young African Americans marched for desegregation and equal rights - and were brutally attacked, with over 60 sent to the hospital. Generations later, we honor their courage by standing up to ongoing attacks on civil liberties.

Always honored to join Reverend Keen’s annual march across MLK bridge in honor of this day, and all those who gave their lives in Virginia to bend the arc of history towards justice

Great to march again with Councilman Bryant Hood in honor of MLK. And thanks (I think) for the before and after pics!

Ran into our next Lieutenant Governor! So great seeing her at a wonderful interfaith prayer breakfast as we came together to bless this historic day ahead of Abigail Spanberger’s inauguration.

Decisive leadership by Gov-Elect Spanberger to restore some integrity and leadership at UVA
The incoming Democratic governor of Virginia, Abigail Spanberger, has asked at least five members of the board overseeing the University of Virginia who were appointed by her Republican predecessor to resign, according to people briefed on the matter.

Let’s be frank: one outcome of John McGuire raising premium costs for the middle class and small businesses is that people will not see a raise in their paycheck this year.
January 15, 2026 at 11:28 PM
Let’s be clear about who’s paying the price for John McGuire and Congress’s vote against extending ACA premium subsidies: the middle class, small business owners, and the working poor. This was a gut punch, and it didn’t have to be.

We are five weeks into this campaign and the momentum keeps growing and growing. I am truly so grateful for the amazing people who have come out to endorse this race. Now let’s flip VA-05!

Honored to have the endorsement and blessing of Reverend Dr. Campbell, as we fight to bring down costs in Southside and bring back some moral courage to Washington.
January 14, 2026 at 6:51 PM
Mayor Alonzo Jones has been an incredible advocate for the great city of Danville. I’m ready to give Southside the federal partner they deserve, focused on continued economic growth and good wages.
