Overview of university governance bills. Pieces of mine were incorporated, but it’s a much slimmer package moving forward. I’ve had convos with Del. Franklin and I know she is pushing hard for more!

Lots of good bills moving ➡️

“They've shown up in courts across the Commonwealth, sometimes masked, often unidentified and many times without a warrant,” said Del. Katrina Callsen, D-Albemarle, who sponsored the courthouse bill into which several others were merged…

Check out this 🧵 for a quick transportation advocacy opportunity!
🚨 Advocacy opp! VDOT has created a plan to redesign the W. Main / Ridge intersection to improve traffic flow + provide protected bike lanes and many pedestrian upgrades. It’s not perfect but it’s WAY better than what is there now, and it’s designed to get state funding to get it built.

Yesterday evening I passed 2 PBM reform bills to full committee with bipartisan support. Earlier this year I was honored to receive the Champion of Community Pharmacy Award. Holding PBMs accountable helps us all!

7am finance committee meetings lead to a bit of doodling. As a general rule tax credit bills are not approved because they are rarely shown to incentivize or change behavior (they mainly reward existing behavior). Better to work towards a comprehensive progressive tax code than piecemeal fixes.

Lots of bills, not a lot of time. It’s a privilege to be here and I’m making the most of it.

No one is above the law. That includes ICE. They hurt our Commonwealth and jeopardize the rule of law when they use our court spaces to terrorize and intimidate.

First bill out of the House! Charlottesville advocates have been fighting for this since 2023, and I’m proud to have successfully carried it through the House (along with 3 other localities Fredericksburg, Falls Church and Newport News). On to the Senate!

Talking to folks engaged in our democratic process is a highlight of my job. Especially seeing familiar faces from home! I can also introduce groups…like the People’s Coalition, a group dedicated to community led criminal justice reform. If you are visiting Richmond send me an email and let me know!
