A 29 year old with no experience other than running a shitty little pet store. I’ve been in there many times, it was nasty. Beya and her staff were always nice but good god this is an embarrassing pick by Lurie.
The woman described Beya Alcaraz as someone who “cannot run a business," and said the mayor's office never spoke to her about the new supervisor's track record as a business owner.
Mayor Lurie’s pick for Sunset supervisor ran pet shop that ‘smelled like death,’ new owner says

Lots of people seem confused and seem to think she’s running for the US senate. This is just the state senate. It’s a minor office. Nevertheless i will donate to her opponents.

This was a political calculation that was almost certainly discussed with and approved by her mother before she did it

Even her daughter knows her mother is a sellout.

I just called my senators to thank them for voting NO last night and ask them to support replacing Chuck Schumer. If your senators also opposed the budget, I encourage you to do the same.

Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Makers Mark is a $30 bourbon. It's not exactly demanding that a rare bottle of Pappy Van Winkle be on hand. Seems less like a class thing and more like a "I like Makers possibly too much" thing.
This is far and away my pettiest Tim Kaine gripe but the Senator’s advance staff always deliver a bottle of Maker’s Mark that is for him only to fundraising events so he doesn’t have to do toasts with the cheap beer and wine the hosts provide and that always really irked me

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

In a normal democracy, a total collapse of party leadership would result in an no-confidence vote and immediate snap elections to find leaders who can lead
