Chocolate chip cookie supremacist.

Used to repair MTA transit radios, then built NYC skyscrapers, now do quantum computer things in Zuid-Holland (Best Holland).
I would much rather have my bread taste like cake, than my cake taste like bread and my bread taste like cardboard.

Patting myself on the back (but I can't because my back is too damn thick.)

But it is pretty cool that I am about 40, 2m, 100kg, and can do a decent set of pull ups.

But God do I hate pull ups.

Wherein the Dutch phenomenon of NIMBYs lodging complaints against construction projecta in hopes of a settlement payout is described.

As construction financing does not really exist here, the prepaid unit owners have to pay.

Me: "Mom, can I get some election result denialism?"

Mom: "We have election result denialism at home!"

The election result denialism at home.
Moet je maar competentere partijgenoten op de kieslijst zetten hè?

Oh wacht die heb je niet.

How to cause a crush load crowding in the Netherlands.

Free and skating.

When I move back into an apartment, I don't want to see trees from my windows, I want to see clouds and sky.

Not at fucking all here in the Netherlands lol.
"Europeans recognize his vision about free public transit and universal childcare. We expect our governments to make these kinds of services accessible to all of us,” said Verbeek. “We pay higher taxes and get civilized societies in return."
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’
Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

It is funny watching both NYers and Europeans, who have no contextual relationship with cultural and political values in America but outside of urban areas, think that the content that resonates in NYC is particularly transferable.

In the past week here in the Netherlands the NYC mayoral race has had more media coverage (from my listening) than the actual elections and government formation underway here in NL.

While I appreciate that NYC is better and more important than the Netherlands, it's just weird.

I don't want the AI bubble to pop until Nvidia becomes worth more than the Dutch East India Company was.

The Dutch are way too proud of that world record and our slave trading ancestors.

Utrecht has fallen.

(Tap water has not drinkable for a few days now.)

I find it hilarious that I moved back to a random Dutch town and the Halloween quality here (not typical in NL, actually controversial) is better than in the typical American town.

Having said that I used to live on Burns St. if you are from Queens you know.

Harvard Educated Florida Surgeon General.
FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.

When you have to double check you are not reading Dutch.
So here's Andrew Cuomo reacting to Maria Bartiromo wondering if Mamdani will "change the look of New York" and have Muslim women "completely covered up," telling her that Mamdani "doesn't understand New York culture" because he has "dual citizenship" and "he's a citizen of Uganda."

Despite having 8000 parties, this country really only has progressive and moderate Democrats or extreme and moderate Republicans.

As someone who live through the takeover of MTA Bus Co routes from private operators to MTA ownership...
Part of my job is comparing the costs of insourcing versus outsourcing bus operations. It's complex and switching from one to the other doesn't reliably cut or increase costs. Economy of scale, deadhead length and union agreements factors much more than public versus private overhead.
