Chocolate chip cookie supremacist.

Used to repair MTA transit radios, then built NYC skyscrapers, now do quantum computer things in Zuid-Holland (Best Holland).
I have hope that the first NYC mayor since Bloomy is actually going to focus on actual mayor things.

It is amazing how many Dutch problems would be solved by...
a man wearing sunglasses and a white t-shirt is holding something in his hands .

Nothing is close to being this unlivable and unbearable with such oppressive density in aupperior Europe.

In comparison to the Netherlands where cash transactions above €3000 euros are now banned.

I don't know who needs to read this, but Dutch winter is atrocious.

That dancing around 0 means black ice, which means I and many others will be driving to work instead of cycling.

Because there is bad weather.

IYKYK, else you ain't from Queens.

This mayor, I swear...

First thing he does is come in and raise the fare.

Update: Flight back to Holland is tomorrow 😭 hoping it is victim of the current collapse of Dutch transportation infrastructure (it is snowing).
Update: Neither of us really want to go back to the Netherlands. We do not miss cycling or driving or shit food at all.

Wife is now sending me Forest Hills zillow listings saying we could go "for funzies."
Update: After revisiting Queens my wife and I are now self negotiating how long we stay in Holland "for our daughter."

Currently at 5 years so she gets the 2nd language and calmer environment.

NYC government remains a flaming turn of ineptitude, but my god is the city such a better place to live.

Apparently bus lane infrastructure, without enforcement, doesn't do anything.

1. First time I ever took a bus in Manhattan.
2. First time I ever road a bus since they no longer operate on my radio network.
3. Dutch commuter buses spoiled me.

Imagine if New Amsterdam was as boring and obsessed with preservation (so long ago) as old Amsterdam.

Problem #1 with NYC mayors has always been they think they have a national role/springboard.

The extremely difficult job is to collect the trash, run the schools, manage the police/fire etc.
While Mamdani hit on his key themes of affordability, the speech wasn't a popularist checklist. His broader point was to reclaim the meaning of freedom, evoking FDR's Four Freedoms, and calling for a modern version of the New Deal coalition.

I saw a headline that said Bernie Sanders "brought back his iconic look" for the Mamdani inauguration and some of you just do not know a single old Jewish guy

I presume it was just typical MTA implementation ineptitude that lead to this and not some strategic pricing decision?
We said goodbye to the MetroCard but we must also say goodbye to the existential, slightly depressed "Add Value/Add Time" meme that will no longer make the rounds 🫡 nygroove.nyc/add-value-ad...
'Time' is no longer for sale in New York City
RIP the add ‘value/add time’ meme, buried alongside the MetroCard

So Dutch Twitter (via *that* family member) is already starting to declare this was a Muslim attack.

In no way could this have anything to do with good ol' Dutch people igniting the entire country's sky with explosives.

Congrats to mayor, officially the most hated man in NYC!

Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist who campaigned on a promise to tackle the affordability crisis in one of America’s most expensive cities, was sworn in as New York City’s 112th mayor early Thursday. https://cnn.it/492Yszc

The stubborn insanity of the Dutch firework culture has destroyed the Vondelkerk in Amsterdam.

And also killed someone in Nijmegen.

Some perspective.

To rent a Dutch e-bike from NS is €13.50 per day (only option) and must be returned to origin point.

That is about $16.00 or 1 hour worth of use? (Or 40 minutes for non-members.)
Highway robbery:

For non-members, less than seven minutes on an e-bike is more expensive than the subway. And even for Citi Bike members, a ten-minute e-bike ride is as expensive as the subway.

It's time for New York City to subsidize bike share and cap runaway Citi Bike prices

Also how much of the war time industrial capacity (more than half) was government owned / government operated and government owned / corporate operated.
people totally memoryhole the housing and migration side of WW2 national mobilization

My wife and I are both hoping that we remember why we left NYC last time, because we are struggling to feel a reason to stay in the Netherlands compared to coming back.

In the Netherlands we would bury the 900 spot parking garage instead placing it above ground like you savages.
Here's a closer view of Main Street, Cupertino. In red is the multistory parking garage with 900 spots

I don't know how I am just hearing about this now but I just pissed myself laughing in disappointment but not surprised.

Amsterdam gave all its school children a racist boardgame.
