Frankly astonishing explosion in Ace Combat 7 here. Btw I struggled through this game and finished it last night using the standard control scheme only to find out today that the expert controls are almost unanimously considered the proper way to play

Decided recently to have a goosey at the backloggd reviews for Forbidden Siren but I told myself beforehand if the most liked review was negative then there's no hope for that site. Found the most liked one and saw it had no star rating and the status was 'shelved' so my heart sank.

Swear, every time I go to Majora's Mask I find one more little detail. One more touch or secret. The ramp up to Snowhead Temple is actually dripping water after you defeat Goht cause the whole thing is slowly thawing. Beautiful.

When we talk about video game stories I think there is too much emphasis on plot points and not enough on the execution (writing, lighting/music, how mechanics support and enhance the story etc).

Finished Sakura Taisen (got the Sakura ending). Not sure know how pretty the other versions are considered (or whether my phone pictures do it justice) but the PSP port is gorgeous. Really liked the timed dialogue choices and the way that sometimes choosing none and staying silent is the best option

In Left 4 Dead, the Witch detecting the player is unaffected by the flashlight. Voice lines play that reference this mechanic, it's even shown in the original's trailer, people will swear up and down that it's a thing, but the functionality simply does not exist.

Great video that really highlights an issue with games writing: Gender is usually just a cosmetic toggle that doesn't actually change anything. Although screaming morons online still somehow get angry about it.

Finished Ivalice Chronicles. Still think it gets 3x more engrossing when the Lucavi show up & is best when it leans into horror. The fight against a certain zombified character was the highlight for me. Also the VA puts it above WOTL imo. Lots of line reads that put the CHARACTER in NPC (↓spoilers?)

Kairi's last line in the Kingdom Hearts 1 ending possibly being removed from the English version because Simple and Clean has lyrics where Hikari has a brief instrumental section that leaves room for her dialogue reminds me of the film Fish Story.
