I never was the man I used to be.
Marvellous letter.
45 years ago I made a pitch for the Director-General job. Didn’t get it – mind you, I was only 13. But I did get a reply from Ian Trethowan, who was DG at the time. All these years later I’m proud to work for the BBC.

Orange Alert.
Why is someone ALWAYS trying to reboot The Prisoner when we've already got Stephen Fry and Jools Holland??

Not as revered as Rattlesnakes but, for me, every bit as lovely. Perfect Blue.

Worth remembering that when you’re humming the greatest Stone Roses songs - Resurrection, Fools Gold, I Wanna Be Adored - you are humming Mani’s bass melody. Not Squire, not Brown, but the bass line

Terrible news

I have a great deal of like for this tune. Arguably the most 80s song and video possible. Either that or Obsession by Animotion.
Imagination by 'Belouis' 'Some' - wine bar art-funk tail-end of New Romantic stray hit for Smash Hits-derided oddly-monickered Max Headroom-alike, propelled chartwards by famously 'banned' nude-deploying video. Follow-up Some People only appealed to some people.

Good grief. Mani.
Mani once told me I was the best bass player in the world. "That's a lot of bollocks" I told him. "You were in the Stone Roses & came up with I Am The Resurrection and loads of other amazing bass parts, and now you're in Primal Scream". "Yeah", he said. "But you're playing with Weller!" -

One of very few tunes for which ‘epic’ is a suitable term. Irredeemably linked with irresponsible driving on a French motorway a long time ago.

Rather like this. Nice lettering and layout. Modest and dry text. On a 53 Cooper if you’re interested. Good ad.

This is SO well done.

Any of those would have been lovely. But the Beta HPE top (with apologies to my late father who had four Capris).
Factoid: Well, two hatchbacks & two shooting brakes (I guess the Scimitar & Lancia fulfil the latter category).

Anyway, your attention should be directed to the R17 GTS & its just visible side stripe which made it seem like a car from the French version of Starsky & Hutch…

Just delayed getting out of the car by two minutes and fifty five seconds as Nick Grimshaw @bbc6.bsky.social has just played When I Saw Her Standing There. The best early Beatles song.

My default.
A little girl comes out of the chip shop crying.
Her dad: What’s wrong?
Little girl: I wanted he chips, and so I ate them, and now they’re gone.

Only been in this train for three minutes and the woman in the next seat just said into her phone 'Like Eric Morcombe said, I've only got one arm full!' I have pulled the emergency cord.
