"How many greying celebrities mouth progressive platitudes with real confidence and how many because of a dread of seeming out of touch?" asks James Marriott in a column for The Times. In his defence he's very young, and probably doesn't remember Rock Against Racism, Red Wedge, Artists United-

Something you rarely see in defense procurement. French deliver Barracuda class nuclear submarine a year early! Two more are expected before 2030. With US ☢️ umbrella waning this is great news for #ReArmEU

When I was a kid I was weirdly fascinated by this record, captivated by the singalong chorus and the massive gong at the end. I thought they were absolutely terrifying to look at, and with a name like Judas Priest they were bound to be awful satanic souls. 43 years later I know a lot more about life

Today's little victory- discovering that something you've been doing for over 20 years because it felt right rather than because someone showed you what to do wasn't only accepted practice but BEST practice.

"How do you know it's AI?" Well, firstly, if you went to the expense of installing a cat-sliding pipe like that, the cat would give it a stiff ignoring & would merely glance at it disdainfully every now and then on their way towards the stairs.

Secondly, just look at how the cat gets into the pipe

Short of music for a NYE party? This’ll sort you out. Stuff we used to play at Blow Up, compiled by someone who was there.
Good question! I haven’t, but someone else has here. Looks a very decent selection to me. The important question is whether @andylewis.bsky.social approves?

It is, tonight, the tenth anniversary of what has been to date my only appearance on Jools Holland's Hootenanny. But my goodness, if you're going to be on it only once, do it in style and then help Jeff Beck lift his amp into his Land Rover at the end. That's what I say youtu.be/IDuV95doffc?...

I'm sorry, but in a world where A Night To Remember exists, there's no need for The Titanic Sinks Tonight. The post-production misty breath just makes everyone look like they're vaping. That hasn’t happened, because the public mostly aren’t vicious cranks, like they are.
